Technical Specifications
The PERME®VAC-V2 Gas Permeability Tester is designed to measure the gas permeability of various materials. It operates within a test range of 0.05 to 50,000 cm3/m2•24h•0.1MPa for standard volume and can extend to at least 500,000 cm3/m2•24h•0.1MPa. The instrument requires three specimens for testing, each providing independent results. It features a vacuum resolution of 0.1 Pa and a test chamber vacuum degree of less than 20 Pa. The temperature range is 5℃ to 95℃ with an accuracy of ±0.1℃, and humidity control ranges from 0%RH to 100%RH with an accuracy of ±1%RH. The specimen size is Φ97 mm with a test area of 38.48 cm2. The instrument supports O2, N2, and CO2 gases, with a test pressure range of -0.1 MPa to +0.1 MPa. The gas supply pressure should be between 0.4 MPa and 0.6 MPa, and the port size is Ф6 mm PU tubing. The instrument dimensions are 760 mm (L) × 575 mm (W) × 450 mm (H) and it weighs 88 kg.
Applications
The tester is applicable for determining the gas permeability of films, sheeting, and various materials including plastic films, composite films, aluminum foils, biodegradable films, and materials used in aerospace. It can also test the permeability of inflammable and explosive gases, as well as paper and paper board materials.
Configurations
The standard configuration includes the main body, constant temperature control device, professional software, round sample cutter, vacuum grease, fast quantitative filter paper, and an imported vacuum pump. Optional parts include blades for the sample cutter, vacuum grease, vacuum pump oil, fast quantitative filter paper, and a humidity generator.
Test Principle
The PERME®VAC-V2 operates on the differential pressure method. The specimen is mounted in a gas diffusion cell, forming a sealed barrier between two chambers. The lower-pressure chamber is evacuated, followed by the entire cell. Gas is introduced into the higher-pressure chamber, creating a constant pressure difference. The gas permeates through the specimen, and the permeability is determined by monitoring pressure changes in the lower chamber.
