The Importance and Related Tests of Oxyge Permeability Performance on PET bottle Fruit Juice and Tea Drinks Abstract: Due to the unqualified oxygen permeability of PET bottle itself, the quality problems of fruit juice and tea drinks, including brown oxidation, poor tastes and excessive flora, etc., have attracted more and more attention. Relevant manufacturers must control the oxygen transmission of the beverage PET bottles. Because vitamin C has a highly reducing nature, it is easy to be oxidized, and the phenols in fruit juice are easily oxidized into quinones. Under the action of enzymes, it is coupled into a polymer, appearing brown pigment and leading to browning. PET bottle is the first choice of fruit juice and tea packaging. However, barrier property of some PET bottles can not meet the requirements, especially in the process of long distance transportation. Due to the entrance of oxygen and drop of vitamin C contents, the liquid color change and flora problems of PET bottled juice and tea drinks are prominent. Therefore, oxygen permeability performance tests of beverage bottles is of vital importance for drink quality and competitiveness. By analyzing the oxygen concentration detected by the sensor, the test system can calculate oxygen transmission rate and other parameters.
