Thermal conductive silica gel pads fill gaps between heat sources and radiators, but their water vapor barrier properties can impact how much moisture reaches the electronics. The test follows ISO 15106-3:2003, which uses an electrolytic sensor method to determine water vapor transmission rate. Labthink C330H Water Vapor Transmission Rate Test System is used. This system separates a chamber into high and low humidity sections. Nitrogen gas carries water vapor through the sample from the high humidity side to the low humidity side. An electrolytic cell with phosphorus pentoxide detects the water vapor and calculates the transmission rate.
