CUSTOM 2138 PRINT & APPLY SYSTEM CHALLENGE An international copper fitting manufacturer required a variably printed label to be applied to the tops of 12 sizes of fittings that included elbows, tees, crosses, and couplings. Product sizes ranged from 1 ?” in diameter to 3” in diameter. SOLUTION Label-Aire designed a turnkey system which includes a Model 2138 inverted tamp blow printer applicator mounted on vertical and horizontal gib slides for precision adjustment. Currently, the products arehand loaded onto a 6” wide x 10’ long conveyor and positioned with adjustable custom guide rails. The bar code labels are printed and applied to the products and then scanned by aMicroscan bar code reader. The bar coded product is verified for correctness and is air cylinder ejected onto an eject chute if a match is not verified. A missing label detection device is also incorporated into the system and the product is also ejected if a label is not detected on the product. A secondary motorized foam impressor wheel completes the label lay down.
