MODEL 2114M TAMP BLOW SYSTEM CHALLENGE A large U.S. packager required a system to apply a 1” round label to the recessed tops of four sizes of open, hinged lid containers used for packaging contact lenses. SOLUTION Label-Aire provided a 6” wide x 6’ long pusher lug conveyor system to transport these extremely light products. The applicator is a Model 2114M inverted tamp-blow which holds the small label with vacuum on the applicator pad while the air cylinder extends toward the product. At the precise moment the product is beneath the applicator, the label is blown onto the recessed area of the product without disturbing its position on the conveyor. A secondary roller completes the lay down of the label. The labels are accurately applied at +/- 1/32” at a rate of 80 products per minute.
