Production savings and improved performance Previously, IdealCombi used conventional HSS tooling for the finger jointing process, completing around 12,000 linear metres before having to regrind the tools. By changing to C5-coated finger jointing tools, IdealCombi has increased tool life by more than four times. Production savings By changing to C5-coated finger jointing tools, IdealCombi has increased tool life by more than four times – to 50.000 linear metres before regrinding. The financial saving per linear metre is approx. 62%. Overall, the annual cost saving amounts to approx. € 16,000

C5 – improved performance This tool is treated with Kyocera’s surface coating C5, which has numerous good properties benefitting both tool function and tool life. The coating makes the surface of both cutting edge and tool body harder, and less friction is produced.
