UPDATES TO THE VAHVA RANGE IN SEPTEMBER 2018 Wider jaw opening in 26, 30 and 36 grapples In the VAHVA 26, 30 and 36 size classes, the grapples have been updated so that the jaw opening (from tip to tip,) is 90–185 mm larger depending on the model. The product upgrade enables the tips of the jaws to be directed straight downwards, which: • • • • Helps the grapple sink into log piles Helps to grab a log pile from the ground in one go Facilitates the setting of the grapple on top of logs in the cargo area during transport Helps when grabbing individual logs in corners In connection with the redesign, the grapple jaws were improved: • • • • • The jaws’ redesigned triangular supports reduce the tension in the side plates. The jaws are made with thicker, stronger and more rigid frame pipe The structure of the cylinder brackets of the inner jaws has been reinforced. The tear-shaped holes were omitted, fortifying the structure and preventing branches from catching in the holes. In the C36 HD model, the side plates are made of a single solid 25 mm thick plate, which makes the structure extremely strong. Serial production of the improved grapples will start at the beginning of September. The model markings for the wider-jawed grapples will not change, but the serial numbers will begin with the new 400 series (e.g. C260400, C26401, etc.). New VAHVA 21 models The C model range will be expanded with VAHVA 21-sized grapples. The 21 grapples are suited to small forwarders and 5-8-ton excavators. The range will be expanded with four different options: C21, C21 E4, KC21 and KC21 E4. Both KC excavator grapples have a S40 & S45 combi-coupling as their standard quick coupling. 21 grapples have a narrow, compact structure and a single strong push rod.
