KONCAR PGPN/DMV Propulsion and auxiliary converter for diesel-electric rail vehicles PGPN/DMV is a robust and solid unit incorporating modern IGBT technology. All necessary propulsion and auxiliary supply equipment as well as a cooling system are integrated into a roof-mounted converter box, with the high degree of functional integration and the optimized maintenance design being achieved. The increased power density of the new generation converters enables compact and light-weighted vehicle designs. PGPN/DMV converts various generator voltages into drive power for traction motors and three-phase auxiliary power supply. The auxiliary system supplies energy to the on board network and to the vehicle battery directly from the same DC-link. The supervisory control system coordinates operation of a diesel engine and a power converter featuring diesel engine power/speed regulator, protection and diagnostic functions.
