KONCAR Main Traction Converter for the Electric Multiple Unit, Type PGP/EMV Compared to the old thyristor converters, the PGP/EMV converter has a sinusoidal input current in phase with the input voltage with low harmonic distortions. During braking, the converter feeds the energy back to the catenary. The converter is also used for regulation, protection and diagnostics of the main traction drive.
