Product catalog summary
Introduction
Koch-Glitsch has introduced INTALOX™ ULTRA™ random packing, a high-performance solution aimed at improving mass transfer efficiency and reducing pressure drop in chemical processing and petroleum refining. This innovation is based on 30 years of experience with IMTP™ random packing.

Key Features and Benefits
  • Increased Capacity and Efficiency: The packing enhances throughput without compromising efficiency, reduces foaming, and minimizes pressure drop compared to similar-sized packings.
  • Mechanical Strength: It includes integral stiffening ribs and flanges, offering a high strength-to-weight ratio and allowing for greater bed depth.
  • Energy and Cost Savings: The design lowers energy consumption and operating costs by reducing reboiler/condenser duty and stripping load.

Applications and Challenges
  • Chemical Processors and Petroleum Refiners: INTALOX™ ULTRA™ packing addresses challenges like excessive foaming and efficiency loss by providing a superior alternative to conventional random packing.
  • Amine Absorbers and Sour Water Strippers: It is effective in gas treating systems, reducing pressure drop and energy consumption while maintaining high stripping efficiency.
  • Demethanizer and Butadiene Extraction: The packing improves separation efficiency in processes involving methane and heavier hydrocarbons, as well as in the extraction of 1,3-butadiene.

Acid Gas Removal One of the most widely used commercial absorption processes is the removal of CO2 and/or H2S from a gas stream by contacting it with an amine solution such as MEA, DEA, or MDEA. The activated forms of MDEA solution such as Ucarsol®, GAS/SPEC® and aMDEA® have also been widely used in this process. Installation of INTALOX ULTRA packing in these towers offers lower pressure drop, which provides several benefits. This system is moderately foaming and the lower pressure drop provided by INTALOX ULTRA packing reduces foam generation and the use of costly anti-foam agents. Lower pressure...

Demethanizer One application that is common to both natural gas plants and olefins plants is the separation of methane from heavier hydrocarbons. Generally, these columns are operated at high pressure and low (cryogenic) temperature. Installation of INTALOX™ Packed Tower Systems in demethanizer columns provides several benefits. Well designed INTALOX Packed Tower Systems take into account the close liquid and vapor densities and low surface tensions of this system. High performance INTALOX tower internals in combination with INTALOX ULTRA high performance packing provide maximum separation efficiency....
