Kipp & Zonen pyranometer calibrations

Product catalog summary
Overview: Kipp & Zonen manages automated calibration facilities globally, ensuring high-quality standards and accurate calibration of pyranometers. The process is software-controlled to minimize errors and centralize results.
Quality Assurance: Facilities receive the Approved Calibration Facility stamp after meeting Kipp & Zonen's quality standards and staff training. All pyranometers are calibrated to the same standards as the factory in Delft, Netherlands.
Calibration Process: Calibration involves comparing an instrument's readings with a standard to ensure accuracy. The process is part of the ISO 9847 standard, using artificial light to compare test and reference pyranometers.
Recalibration Recommendations: Kipp & Zonen suggests recalibration every two years after first use. According to IEC 61724-1 standards, Class A systems require annual recalibration, Class B every two years, and Class C as per manufacturer requirements.
Global Facilities: Automated calibration facilities are located in key regions worldwide, reducing costs and time associated with shipping and customs. Facilities are present in the Netherlands, USA, France, India, China, and Singapore, with more planned.
Traceability and Smart Features: Kipp & Zonen's reference instruments are traceable to the World Radiometric Reference. SMP Smart pyranometers can be used immediately after recalibration, while CMP models require sensitivity adjustments in data loggers.

Kipp & Zonen pyranometer calibrations-1

Kipp & Zonen pyranometer calibrations WH AT \ˈka-lə-ˌbrāt\ Exposure to sunlight can cause slight changes to the sensitivity of a pyranometer over time. Regular recalibration is needed for accurate measurements. To correlate the readings of an instrument with those of a standard in order to check the instrument’s accuracy. Kipp & Zonen recommends recalibration every 2 years after first use. International Standard IEC 61724-1 Photovoltaic System Performance Monitoring: HOW The Kipp & Zonen Device and Procedure forms Annex A.3.1 of the ISO 9847 calibration standard. Class A (High accuracy): recalibration once per year Class B (Medium accuracy): recalibration once every two years It uses an artificial light source to compare the sensitivity of the test pyranometer with a reference pyranometer calibrated under sunlight. Class C (Basic accuracy): as per manufacturer’s requirements Pyranometers calibrated on any Kipp & Zonen automated facility can be fully checked for historic reliability, stability and uncertainty through the factory calibration database. Certificates and instrument labels can be easily reprinted if necessary. Kipp & Zonen remotely manages and monitors its automated calibration facilities around the world. Software controls the calibration process, avoids operator mistakes and saves all the results in a central database. Only after a successful calibration a certificate and instrument label can be printed. Kipp & Zonen partners receive the Approved Calibration Facility stamp only after the installation and commissioning meets Kipp & Zonen quality standards and calibration staff are fully trained. All pyranometers are inspected, tested and calibrated to the same procedures and quality as at the factory in Delft, The

Kipp & Zonen reference instruments are fully traceable to SI through the World Radiometric Reference at the World Radiation Centre SMP Smart pyranometers can be used immediately after recalibration, since the analog and digital outputs are converted to the new sensitivity stored inside. CMP pyranometers have a new sensitivity value (μV/W/m2) that must be used in the calculation from output (μV) to irradiance (W/m2), typically in a data logger.
