Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the impact of environmental exposure on products and materials, emphasizing the importance of testing these effects in outdoor weathering facilities or climate chambers. These tests simulate extreme conditions to accelerate aging and heat load tests, requiring precise measurement of light intensity (irradiance). The CM4 High Temperature Pyranometer by Kipp & Zonen is highlighted as a specialized instrument for measuring solar or artificial light irradiance under extreme temperature conditions.

Product Overview
Kipp & Zonen has a long history of manufacturing pyranometers, ensuring compliance with ISO 9060:1990 and traceability to the World Radiometric Reference. The CM4 model is designed for high-temperature environments, featuring a heat-resistant design, extended operating temperature range, and excellent temperature dependency. It includes a built-in Pt-100 temperature sensor and offers high irradiance measurement capacity.

Specifications
The CM4 operates within a temperature range of -40 °C to +150 °C and can measure up to 4000 W/m². It features internal first-order temperature compensation and comes with a calibration table for sensitivity across various temperature ranges. Key specifications include:
  • Spectral range: 300 to 2800 nm
  • Response time: < 8 s
  • Non-linearity: < 1%
  • Field of view: 180°
  • Maximum irradiance: 4000 W/m²
  • Operating temperature: -40 °C to +150 °C
  • Weight: 250 g
  • Cable length: 10 m (captive)

Applications
The CM4 is suitable for use in climate chambers and technical facilities with extreme conditions, such as testing vehicles for thermal stress and material degradation. It is equipped with a 10 m long high-temperature signal cable.

Performance and Compliance
The CM4 complies with ISO 9060:1990 standards and is classified as a Second Class instrument. It is designed to withstand shock and vibration, with a relative humidity range of 0 to 100% RH. The performance specifications are provided as worst-case and/or maximum values.

CM4 • High Temperature Pyranometer-1

CM4 • High Temperature Pyranometer for irradiance measurements at high temperatures Heat resistant instrument design Extended operating temperature range Excellent temperature dependency Built-in Pt-100 temperature sensor High irradiance measurement capacity Introduction Environmental exposure affects products and materials. Testing these effects is done at outdoor weathering facilities or in special climate chambers. In these facilities solar radiation and environment are simulated to create the most extreme conditions and for accelerated ageing and heat load tests. These industrial tests require measuring devices to check or verify the light intensity (irradiance) at various positions within the test environment. The CM4 high temperature pyranometer is specially designed for measuring solar or artificial light irradiance under the most extreme temperature conditions. Kipp & Zonen has been manufacturing pyranometers for over 75 9060:1990 and are fully traceable to the World Radiometric Reference years. We produce models at all price and performance points, up to (WRR) in Davos, Switzerland, where Kipp & Zonen instruments form the very best available. All comply with the requirements of ISO part of the World Standard Group.

CM4 • High Temperature Pyranometer-2

CM4 High Temperature Pyranometer With an operating temperature range from -40°C to +150°C and measurement up to 4000 W/m2 the CM4 is a unique instrument. All the radiometer components are specially selected for their ability to withstand these extremely high temperature and irradiance levels. CM4 has internal first-order temperature compensation, but it is also supplied with a built in Pt-100 temperature sensor to provide additional information on the measurement conditions. CM4 is supplied with a calibration table that gives the instrument sensitivity for a number of measurement temperature...
