Waste-to-Energy Plants in Singapore

Product catalog summary
Overview
Keppel Seghers operates two Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plants in Singapore: the Tuas and Senoko plants. These facilities are integral to Singapore's waste management strategy, converting waste into energy and reducing landfill dependency.

Keppel Seghers Tuas WTE Plant
This plant is Singapore's fifth incineration facility and the first built under the National Environment Agency's Public-Private Partnership initiative. It treats 800 tonnes of waste daily, generating 22 MW of electricity. The plant is noted for its compact design and advanced technology, including air-cooled tumbling grates, a high-efficiency boiler, and a flue gas treatment system.

Senoko WTE Plant
Senoko, the third incineration plant in Singapore, treats 2,100 tonnes of waste per day. It has been retrofitted with advanced flue gas treatment technology to meet modern emission standards. Together with the Tuas plant, it handles nearly half of Singapore's municipal waste.

Technical Specifications
  • Tuas Plant: 800 tonnes/day capacity, 22 MW turbine capacity, 54.4 tonnes/hour steam generation, 41 bar(a) steam pressure, 400°C steam temperature.
  • Senoko Plant: 2,100 tonnes/day capacity, 36 MW turbine capacity, 51 tonnes/hour steam generation, 35 bar(a) steam pressure, 370°C steam temperature.

Environmental Impact
WTE plants significantly reduce waste volume by up to 90% and generate energy, decreasing reliance on fossil fuels. They also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by minimizing methane release from landfills.

Keppel Seghers' Role
As a leading provider of environmental solutions, Keppel Seghers has executed over 100 WTE projects globally. It is the only private operator of incineration plants for domestic waste in Singapore, contributing significantly to the nation's sustainable development.
