Product catalog summary
Introduction
The KeeGuard Lite system is a safety guardrail designed for permanent edge protection in areas requiring regular maintenance and inspection. Its unique design avoids mechanical fixing through roofing membranes, preventing potential water damage and noise disturbances.
System Features
  • Unique Design: Utilizes a cantilever principle for strength and stability without penetrating the roof membrane.
  • Durability: Components are galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 and ASTM A53 standards, with stainless steel locking screws for maintenance-free operation.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various roof shapes and sizes, including flat, pitched, and circular designs.
  • Membrane Protection: Rubber matting and sacrificial pads protect the roof membrane from damage.
Testing and Certification
The system is tested and certified according to EN 13374 Class A, EN ISO 14122 Part 3, NF E85-003, and other relevant standards. It complies with Work at Height Regulations and European Union Directives.
Product Specifications
  • Materials: Horizontal guardrails and vertical support legs are made from aluminum, while cantilever tubes are steel. All components in contact with the roof are covered with rubber.
  • Layout: Guardrail height is set at 1100mm, with vertical supports at maximum 3m centers.
  • Wind Loading: Installations are calculated for wind speed compliance with BS 6399 and Eurocode 1.
Components
  • Saddle Clamp: Connects horizontal rails to support legs.
  • Base Foot: Supports the system and connects cantilever tubes and counterweights.
  • Counter Weights: Made from recycled PVC, providing system stability.
  • Various Connectors: Include elbow, tee, and coupling components for system assembly.
Installation and Maintenance
The system is available for supply and installation or as components. It is designed for minimal maintenance, with protective coatings applied to all metal parts.
Aesthetics
The system's appearance can be enhanced with powder coating, and counterweights are available in various colors for aesthetic integration.
Specifications
Malleable cast iron components are used to join recycled PVC counterweights, galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461, with a net weight of 0.63kg. Plastic caps made of PVC prevent water ingress, weighing 0.009kg. System plaques provide system details and approvals, made of plastic, weighing 0.085kg.
Standards and Compliance
The guardrail system complies with EN 13374 and EN 14122-3 standards. It is crucial not to remove, tamper, or alter the guardrail installation without consulting Kee Safety. No lanyard life line or fall arrest products should be attached to the guardrail.
Assembly Procedures
  1. Laying Out Support Leg and Main Rail Tubes: Ensure a safe distance from the roof edge, recommended at least 2m. Lay out two 3.0m Main Rail Tubes and start laying out Support Leg Units.
  2. Self-Closing Gate Access Point: Includes support legs, self-closing gate, elbows, end pieces, PVC counterweights, cantilever tubes, and collars.
  3. Free Standing End: Includes elbows, end piece, PVC counterweights, cantilever tube, and collars.
  4. Wall Clamp: Includes end piece, three socket tee connector, wall/ladder clamp, elbows, and wall fixings.
Installation Details
For EN 13374, at free-standing end details, place cantilever tubes, socket cross clamps, small cantilever tubes, PVC counterweights, and collars. For EN 14122-3, similar components are used with variations in quantities. Ensure all fittings are laid out correctly, using straight couplings and elbows as needed.
Assembly Stages
  1. Start at least 2m from the roof edge, stand up support legs.
  2. Place Main Rail Tubes into Saddle Clamps, ensuring proper protrusion and tightening.
  3. Form corners using elbows and position support legs.
  4. Lift and position the assembled bay, ensuring it is held securely.
  5. Slide cantilever tubes into base foot, place collars and PVC counterweights.
  6. Use straight couplings for connecting rail tubes, ensuring proper alignment and tightening.
  7. For free-standing end details, position socket crosses, small cantilever tubes, and PVC counterweights.
Inspection and Maintenance
Periodic inspections by a competent person are recommended, at least every 12 months. Inspections should ensure the system is complete, not tampered with, and all components are in place and secure.

KeeGuard System Overview MEMBRANE PROTECTION SYSTEMS Each system is installed with rubber matting bonded to the underside of metal components which come into contact with the roof membrane. In some cases the counter weight and base foot have sacrificial pads placed between the edge protection components and the roof membrane. This protects the roof membrane from damage via heat transfer or direct contact with components. On warm deck roof construction specifications pedestrian tiles are recommended to be placed where base feet and counter weights are in contact with the roof membrane. Where KeeGuard...
