Tubular rivets - 1

Tubular rivets are standardized in accordance with DIN 7340. In contrast to hollow rivets produced by deep drawing processes, the inner and outer contours of tubular rivets are cylindrical. In addition to the standard materials brass, copper, aluminium and steel, we also process pure nickel, nickel silver, cupro-nickel, stainless steel, gold and silver. Brass is particularly useful because of its high strength and good riveting qualities, however it has a tendency towards stress corrosion in conjunction with some materials. DIN 7340 specifies for form A and B head shape, shaft diameter d1, wall thick-ness s, nominal length l and material. The complete designation of a pan head rivet made of copper with d1=3 mm, s=0.3 mm and l=20 mm is for example RN A 3 x 0.3 x 20 DIN 7340 Cu. The following tables give an example of the usual measurements and tolerances (other specifications are available on request). s Instructions for riveting: The riveting die must be designed to widen the rivet shaft when positioning it, so that the shaft cannot buckle. We recommend shaping the die according to the drawing in the margin and this, together with the guidelines for the riveting excess length z shown in the table on the next page, should be optimized with sample riveting. These instructions also apply to other tubing parts which are cut off square. Tubular rivets dimensions and tolerances Form A length tolerances typical dimensions and tolerances application dimensions *plus coaxiality deviation of ±10%, relating to the actually existing average wall thickness.
