KARL DEUTSCH has been developing ultrasonic testing equipment since 1951, with the first automated billet inspection system shipped in 1965. The ECHOGRAPH STPS system represents the latest advancements in ultrasonic inspection technology, adhering to DIN EN ISO 9001 quality standards.

Specifications
The ECHOGRAPH STPS is designed for ultrasonic inspection of round or hexagonal bars with diameters ranging from 8 to 130 mm and a minimum length of 2.5 meters. The bars can be processed through rolling, drawing, extrusion, turning, or grinding. The system can detect internal flaws ranging from 0.8 to 2 mm FBH, depending on the diameter, material, and surface condition.

Testing System Features
The system includes a water filter unit, test table, and movable operator panel. It achieves high testing speeds of up to 2 m/s and allows for quick probe carrier adjustments. The ultrasound coupling is facilitated by guided water jets, providing conditions similar to immersion testing. The system uses three to five straight-beam probes for core inspection and additional angle beam probes for surface-near flaw detection in bars over 30 mm in diameter.

Probe Configuration
The standard configuration includes 9 probes: 3 straight-beam and 6 angle probes. An optional configuration with 15 probes is available, consisting of 5 straight-beam and 10 angle beam probes. The probe holders are equipped with skids for stable coupling and are spring-loaded to compensate for mechanical straightness tolerances.

Testing Mechanics
The testing mechanics are mounted on a height-adjustable test table with a sliding device for moving between test and calibration positions. This setup allows for calibration and service without interrupting production. The system can be integrated with eddy current or strayflux testing systems for surface defect detection.
