Vacuum chucks are devices that hold workpieces by utilizing atmospheric vacuum pressure. They are suitable for machining nonmetallic and nonmagnetic materials such as plastics, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, ceramics, and glass. These chucks require an additional vacuum system to operate.
Allows setting an effective holding area by adjusting thread valves and valves. Cross-shaped suction grooves reduce the number of thread valves, enhancing efficiency.
Features φ4 mm holes spaced at 8 mm pitches on the holding face. Available upon request.
The vacuum chuck operates by exhausting the inside with a vacuum pump, creating a pressure difference that holds the workpiece by atmospheric pressure. The maximum pressure difference achievable is approximately 80 kPa (600 mmHg), corresponding to a holding power of about 0.8 kgf/cm².
For example, a workpiece with a 100 cm² holding area can be held with approximately 800 N (80 kgf) force. However, rough or distorted workpiece surfaces can cause leaks, significantly reducing holding power. Leak prevention measures are necessary for such cases.
Heat generated during machining can deform workpieces, especially thin stainless steel plates, making them difficult to hold. Appropriate machining methods should be considered, and consultation is recommended if issues arise.
