Analyser Layout & Features

Batteries
The analyser uses disposable alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries. Only NiMH batteries should be charged using the specified charger. Batteries must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
Before Using the Analyser
Ensure the water trap is empty and the particle filter is clean. Connect the flue probe hose and temperature plug correctly. Perform a fresh air purge to auto-calibrate the analyser.
Using the Four Function Buttons
The buttons are used to switch the analyser on/off, control the backlight/tasklight, operate the pump, zero the pressure sensor, print data, and store readings.

1. Tightness Test Procedure
Before performing the 21st tightness test, clear the memory by selecting MENU / REPORT / TIGHTN’S / DEL ALL / YES.
2. Differential Temperature Measurement
Select “Diff Temp” to measure flow, return, and differential temperatures. Use T1 for flow and T2 for return temperature sensors. The real-time temperature difference is displayed as ∆Tc. Print or log the test results using the designated buttons.
3. Room CO Testing
Select “Room CO” to measure CO levels for up to 30 minutes. CO readings are recorded every minute and stored as a log number. The test can be stopped manually or will end automatically after 30 minutes. Print the results by selecting MENU / REPORT / ROOM CO / VIEW.
4. Printouts
Printouts include various test results such as pressure, differential temperature, and room CO tests. Ensure the printer is ready and aligned with the analyser’s emitter.
5. Using the Menu
Navigate the menu using function buttons to set up fuel types, time, date, and other parameters. Options include setting pressure units, test durations, and viewing or deleting stored tests.
6. Using the KANE455 as a Thermometer or Pressure Meter
Activate the thermometer/pressure meter mode by holding specific buttons. This mode allows real-time readings but does not store data.
7. Measuring Flue Gases
Ensure the flue probe is correctly positioned and does not exceed temperature limits. Monitor stable operating conditions and print results as needed.
8. Analyser Problem Solving

EN 50379 Regulated Instructions

KANE455 OVERVIEW The KANE455 Combustion Analyser measures carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), differential temperature and differential pressure. The direct measurement of CO2 is achieved using a Kane designed infra-red sensing system. CO2 is set to zero in fresh air automatically after the initial countdown. If “RESET GAS ZERO” is indicated ensure that the unit is in fresh air before pressing the button with an “Enter” symbol. BEFORE USING THE ANALYSER EVERY TIME: Check the water trap is empty and the particle filter is not dirty: - To empty water trap, unscrew the red screw plug and re-tighten once it is empty. To change the particle filter, remove protective rubber cover, slide the water trap unit from the analyser, remove the particle filter from its spigot and replace. Reconnect the water trap unit and rubber protective cover. 3. USING THE FOUR FUNCTION BUTTONS: Switching ON the Analyser Press / button to switch the unit ON. This must be done in fresh air to ensure that the analyser auto calibrates its sensors properly. When switched on, the analyser beeps and briefly displays battery %, fuel and pressure units. Its bottom line counts down from 90 until the sensors are ready to use. If the analyser will not auto calibrate, its sensors need to be replaced or recalibrated by an authorised repair centre. Backlight & Tasklight to switch the display's backlight and NOTE: Use of the backlight/tasklight significantly increases the current drain on the batteries. The analyser normally operates with the pump on. Press When the pump is switched off “-PO-" is displayed instead of the O2, CO & CO2 readings.
