M2-MR-5-30

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document is a datasheet for the M2-MR-5-30 industrial motor controller designed for brushed DC motors operating at 24 VDC. It supports output currents up to 5 A and includes features such as direction reversal, open-loop speed control, adjustable start ramp, overload shutdown, short circuit detection, and dynamic braking. The unit is designed to be mounted on a DIN rail EN 50022.
Specifications:
  • Nominal Voltage: 24.0 VDC
  • Supply Voltage: 18-30 VDC
  • Control Inputs: 24.0 VDC
  • Analog Input: 0-10 VDC
  • Max Current: 15 A (typical), Continuous Load Current: 5 A
  • Short Circuit Current Detection: 80 A
  • PWM Frequency: 15.6 kHz
  • Duty Cycle: 5-100%
  • Dimensions: 17.5 x 70.4 x 85.0 mm
  • Temperature Range: -20 to +50 °C
Installation and Safety:
  • The controller must be installed by qualified personnel and operated on safety extra-low voltage.
  • It should be housed in a switch cabinet for fire protection and safeguarded with a pre-fuse.
  • EMC/EMI standards must be followed, and shielded cables may be necessary.
  • Repairs should only be conducted by authorized personnel to maintain warranty and safety.
Functionality:
  • Speed and Start Ramp: Speed is controlled via an analog input, with a range of 1-10 V corresponding to 0-100% PWM output. The start ramp can be adjusted from 50 to 4000 ms.
  • Dynamic Brake: Can be activated or deactivated; when active, it stops the motor with armature short circuit braking.
  • Overload/Short Circuit Detection: The motor shuts off without dynamic braking in case of overload or short circuit, requiring a reset to restart.
Device Status and Error Indication:
  • Status is indicated by LEDs on the module front plate, with different colors and flashing sequences indicating various states and errors.
  • Errors include overcurrent, over-temperature, short circuit, overvoltage, overload, under-temperature, and low supply voltage.

Housing, terminal, printed circuit board _UL94V-0 The module M2-MR-5-30 is ready to use after the start up delay. After the module is powered up the startup delay time starts to run. The module M2-MR-5-30 is a two-quadrant motor control with open loop speed control for DC motors, for use in an industrial environment. It guarantees the switching on and off and the controlled drive of motors. Through two analog inputs it is possible to set the start ramp gradient and the speed of rotation. The motor can be stopped with and without dynamic braking. 10.01.2020 KL - Errors and technical modification...

Via the analog input at terminal (5) it is possible to set the PWM duty cycle that is to be issued to the motor. Within a range from 1 V to 10 V, the voltage is applied as a 0 - 100 % output. With a loading of the motor, the speed reduces. The function “dynamic braking” is activated as standard. The function is deactivated by applying a High Signal at terminal (9). If dynamic braking is active, the motor winding is switched to GND at both terminals when switched off. The motor is stopped with armature short circuit braking. If dynamic braking is not active, the motor spins with no braking. Via...

| Safety notes Maximum operational data The maximum operating data may not be exceeded. Installation The installation and start-up must be performed by specialist personnel exclusively. All affected components must be disconnected from the mains. Start-up For the first start-up, the motor should be operated without load. Risk of death Do not touch live parts after switching on! The assembly must be operated exclusively on safety extra-low voltage. With operation on extra-low voltage (e.g. via autotransformer), death or injury can occur. Fire protection The assembly must be installed in a switch...
