Invictus™ 830nm NIR Laser The Invictus™ 830nm NIR laser has been specifically developed by Kaiser Optical Systems, Inc., for biomedical applications of Raman spectroscopy where sample absorbtion characteristics require longer excitation wavelengths and reduced spectral range. Rated CDRH class IIIb, this rugged laser uses an external cavity design to provide excellent wavelength stability and the narrow linewidth necessary for most Raman applications. An RS232 digital interface and integrated keypad/LCD display allows for both local and remote control, and real time diagnostic evaluation. In order to measure Raman spectra close to the laser line and free from band broadening it is necessary to remove spontaneous emissions. This is accomplished in the Invictus™ design by incorporation of a high performance holographic bandpass grating into the laser package. When used with fiber-optic cables diode lasers can become unstable and mode-hop. This is prevented in the Invictus™ 830nm NIR laser design by incorporating optical isolation which prevents optical reflections from the fiber force (optical feedback) from reaching the laser cavity and causing laser instability. Due to the laser diode type incorporated into the Invictus™ NIR laser and the design requirements for excellent fiber-optic coupling, these lasers do not provide a pure TEM00 spatial mode and should not be used with direct coupled Raman instruments. The Invictus™ 830nm laser is configured as standard for fiber-coupling with FC connectors. This laser is compatible with Kaiser's RamanRxn Systems™ analyzers.
