  • Ceramic Bearings: Made with silicon nitride (Si3N4), suitable for various extreme environments.
Specifications
Detailed specifications for different bearing types are provided, including bore diameters and materials. Tables list materials and lubricants suitable for specific conditions, such as vacuum resistance and temperature ranges.
Lubricants and Materials
Table 2 outlines various lubricants, their operating temperature ranges, and vacuum resistance. Table 1 lists materials used in bearings, their operating temperature ranges, vacuum resistance, density, Young's modulus, and corrosion resistance.
Applications and Characteristics
Table 3 details the Koyo EXSEV bearing series models, their operating temperature ranges, characteristics, and applications, emphasizing the importance of selecting the right materials and lubricants based on environmental conditions.
Service Life and Performance
The document discusses the service life of EXSEV bearings, typically used under light load conditions. It provides formulas for predicting the life of bearings with different coatings and materials, highlighting the importance of maintaining solid lubricants to prevent increased friction and reduced service life.
Conclusion
JTEKT's Ceramic & Exsev bearing series offers advanced solutions for extreme environments, with detailed specifications and guidelines for selecting appropriate materials and lubricants to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Technical Specifications and Guidelines
This section provides technical specifications and guidelines for various types of bearings, focusing on arrangements with double-row cylindrical roller bearings and angular contact thrust ball bearings. It includes detailed information on bearing arrangements, dimensions, tolerances, and performance characteristics.
Bearing Arrangements
  • Four types of arrangements are described for bearings used with double-row cylindrical roller bearings, which carry radial loads. These arrangements specify different mounting configurations with tapered or cylindrical bore bearings.
Dimensional Specifications
  • The overall width of ACT0 DB and ACT0B DB bearings is equivalent to the dimension C1 of 2344B bearings. When replacing a 2344B bearing with an ACT0 DB or ACT0B DB bearing, only the width of spacer A needs to be changed, with no alterations required to spindle or housing dimensions.
Bearing Types and Characteristics
  • Table 1 outlines the types of bearings suitable for supporting axial loads, including double direction angular contact thrust ball bearings and matched pair angular contact ball bearings. Key characteristics include support for axial loading in both directions, high axial rigidity, and excellent high-speed performance due to small contact angles.
Tolerances and Deviations
  • Tables 2 and 3 provide detailed tolerance specifications for double direction angular contact thrust ball bearings and ACT series angular contact ball bearings, respectively. These include nominal bore and outside diameter tolerances, width variations, and runout specifications, conforming to JIS B 1514 standards.
Performance and Load Ratings
  • The document includes performance data such as basic load ratings, limiting speeds, and permissible axial loads for various bearing types. It also provides guidelines on the relationship between axial loading and displacement for different contact angles and preload conditions.
Reference and Notes
  • Additional notes and references are provided for specific dimensions and tolerances, emphasizing the importance of adhering to specified standards for optimal bearing performance.
Full Complement Type Cylindrical Roller Bearings
This section provides detailed specifications and guidelines for full complement type cylindrical roller bearings, commonly used in machinery subjected to heavy, impact loading. These bearings are categorized into shielded and open types, each with specific applications and characteristics.
Shielded Type Bearings
  • Designed for use with rope sheaves, these bearings are non-separable and pre-lubricated with grease. They feature locating snap rings for easy positioning and fitting to sheaves, and the bearing surface is coated with phosphate to prevent rust.
Open Type Bearings
  • Divided into fixed side and free side types, with the former carrying axial load in both directions. They have a separable design with the outer ring divided into two annular pieces and are available in double-row, triple-row, and four-row configurations.
Tolerances and Fits
  • Specified in JIS B 1514-1, classes 0 and 6. Recommended fits and radial internal clearance are detailed in tables, with specific guidelines for crane sheaves with rotating outer ring load.
Design Specifications
  • Detailed dimensions, load ratings, and mass for various bearing designs are provided, including those with and without locating snap rings. Dimensional tolerances for specific components are noted, with variations based on bore diameter.
Rolling Mill Bearings
  • Four-row cylindrical and tapered roller bearings are designed for maximum load capacity in limited spaces. Cylindrical bearings are suitable for high-speed rotation, while tapered bearings are for low- to medium-speed rotation. Specifications for metric and inch series are provided, with special allowances for certain series.
Recommended Fits and Clearances
  • Tables provide recommended fits for roll neck four-row cylindrical roller bearings, with deviations specified for both inner and outer rings. Consultation with JTEKT is advised for specific applications to prevent inner ring creeping.

Ceramic&Exsev bearing-1

Ceramic&Exsev bearing series More and more bearings are being used in extreme special environments, such as in a vacuum, or in a clean, corrosive, or heated place. In some cases bearings are required to be insulated or antimagnetic. Applications of bearings in such environments are increasing in the field of state-of-the-art technology, e.g. vacuum equipment, aerospace equipment and semi-conductor production facilities. Bearings made of conventional materials and lubricants can hardly meet these new needs. JTEKT has succeeded in developing a series of bearings for use in extreme special environments, having started from the study of the very basics of materials and testing of their performance under various severe conditions. Exsev bearings for use in a vacuum environment Bore diameter 4 – 40 mm Exsev bearings for use in a clean environment Bore diameter 4 – 40 mm Ceramic bearings JTEKT has standardized the following bearings as the "Koyo bearing series". ¡Exsev bearings for use in a clean environment Designed for use in a vacuum. The friction surface of the bearing interior is coated with solid lubricant (or soft metal). Bearings pre-lubricated with special grease are also available. ¡Exsev bearings for use in a vacuum environment Produce insignificant contamination, provided with rolling elements and a cage made of self-lubricating materials. Optimal for use in environments which need to be clean. ¡Ceramic bearings Ceramic rings and rolling elements (silicon nitride Si3N4) ensure excellent performance in various extreme special environments. ¡For details, refer to JTEKT separate catalog "Ceramic bearings and bearings for extreme special environments" (CAT. Service life depends on use conditions. At present, it is not possible to predict their service life under varied use conditions. However, based on a variety of experiments and tests, JTEKT has established an experimental formulae to predict the lives of bearings. The formulae is described in the following subsections for reference only. 0.1 Special polymeric fluoride Equivalent load / load rating ■ Life of EXSEV Bearings EXSEV bearings, lubricated with a solid lubricant, are usually used under relatively light load conditions, such as 10% of their static load ratings or less. These bearings...
