The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. Plastics Machinery Business Division User subroutines for devolatilization analysis and user subroutines TEX-FAN allows you to develop your own analysis program (physical quantity) to make the polymer property prediction with own theoretical model. This function can be combined with the devolatilize analysis. The possible uses are as below: Abstract “TEX-FAN” , flow simulation software of twin screw extruder, is available for devolatilize process analysis to enable wide and complexed compounding process development. The software also allow user subroutines. Devolatilize process analysis This function enable to analyze how volatile solvent removed from vent areas. To analyze devolatilizing process, physical properties of ・ Prediction of specific property change (MFR, cross-link, physical quantity) while plasticization and mixing. ・ Process of polymer characteristics change by side feed additive supply and fill rate increase ・ Analysis of volatile substance development while mixing and devolatilization result. ・ Analysis of MFR change because of devolatilization progress. *This function requires FORTRAN compiler prepared by customer (Intel Fortran is recommended) factors of devolatilize mechanism in twin screw extruder: 1.Flash devolatilization of solvent at rear vent location 2.Surface renewal for devolatilization at non-filling area 3.Foam devolatilization with water injection Compounding process supplying polypropylene from hopper and supplying calcium carbonate from side feed can be input to the program. The analysis covers below the solvent, degree of vacuum and amount of additive) Temp. Solid Fraction [deg.
