Product catalog summary
Overview
The document provides technical specifications and recommendations for the JMP screw shaft used in the plastics machinery sector by Japan Steel Works, Ltd. It highlights the mechanical advantages and interchangeability of the JMP screw shaft compared to conventional screw shafts.

Specifications
The JMP screw shaft offers significantly improved fatigue strength, approximately 2.5 to 3.1 times higher than conventional screw shafts. This enhancement is due to differences in spline shape and material, particularly for the αⅢ series, which are not compatible with the αⅡ series.

Interchangeability
While the JMP screw shaft for the αⅢ series has a different spline shape, it can be applied to the αⅡ series by adjusting the length-to-diameter (L/D) ratio of the most upstream screw segments. This allows existing αⅡ screw segments to be reused with the JMP screw shaft.

Features
  • High Durability: The JMP screw shaft enhances torque performance and mechanical reliability, especially for the SUPERTEX-αⅢ and αⅡ series.
  • Interchangeability: The αⅢ series screw segments are not interchangeable with the αⅡ series due to different spline shapes.
  • Application on αⅡ Series: By replacing and adjusting specific screw segments, the JMP screw shaft can be applied to the αⅡ series, improving fatigue strength and allowing for the use of corrosion-resistant materials like SUS630.
  • Wide Range Application: The JMP screw shaft is standard for the αⅢ series (TEX25 to TEX120) and applicable to the αⅡ series (TEX44 to TEX160).

Operational Benefits
The JMP screw shaft is designed for high-capacity production, low-temperature extrusion, and effective mixing and dispersion of fillers, enhancing the reliability and performance of the SUPERTEX-αⅡ and αⅢ series under extreme conditions.

LEAFLET SUPERTEX - αⅡ ・ αⅢ "JMP" Screw Shaft JSW MEGA PERFORMANCE - SHAFT "JMP" screw shaft is applied on SUPERTEX- αⅢ series to achieve its high torque performance. It is capable for reliable production as below operation condition. ・ High capacity production to reduce production cost ・ Low temperature extrusion to improve polymer quality ・ Mixing and dispersion of concentrated inorganic filler or GF JMP shaft is also applicable for SUPERTEX- αⅡ series to improve its reliability which enable to be used under extreme conditions. The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. Plastics Machinery Business Division Interchangeability in TEX- αⅡ : conventional vs JMP JMP screw shaft has different shape and dimension at starting point of the spline (red colored in below). To a p p l y J M P s c r e w s h a f t w i t h e x i s t i n g s c r e w configuration, the most upstream side screw segments L/D have to be extended by 0.2 to 0.3 D and the next screw segment L/D has to be adjusted to meet the original total L/D. Other screw segments can be reused. JMP screw shaft Spacer Most upstream segment Conventional screw shaft ■ High durability The fatigue strength limit is improved, approx. 3.1 times higher than conventional screw shaft, to realize high torque performance of SUPERTEX- αⅢ series. It also improve mechanical reliability of high torque production of SUPERTEX- αⅡ series. ■ Interchangeability of αⅢ & αⅡ screw segments JMP screw shaft of αⅢ has different spline shape from the conventional screw shaft which are used in αⅡ series. Therefore, screw segments for αⅢ series are not interchangeable with screw segments for αⅡ series. ■ JMP screw shaft application on αⅡ series JMP screw shaft can apply on αⅡ series. By replacing one set of screw on the most upstream side with screw segments for JMP screw shaft and adjusting L/D, existing screw segments for αⅡ can be applied to JMP screw shaft. JMP screw shaft enhances fatigue strength limit approx. 2.5 times higher than conventional screw shaf t for αⅡ series. Corrosion resistance material SUS630 is available for JMP screw shaft so it can be used for mixing of corrosive material. Most upstream segment Gate City Osaki West Tower 1-11-1, Osaki, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo 141-0032, Japan Below figure shows comparison of fatigue strength limit for conventional screw shaft and JMP screw shaft when setting conventional screw shaft as 100 %. The result shows JMP screw shaft has approx. 2.5 to 3.1 times higher strength than conventional screw shaft. JMP screw shaft for α Ⅲ series are not compatible with α Ⅱ series as their spline shape and material are different to increase the strength. JMP screw shaft is highly recommended for αⅡ series to improve its reliability. Fatigue strength limit 250 Europe (Germany) Convey segment Mechanical characteristic: conventional vs JMP ■ Wide range application JMP screw shaft is standard application on αⅢ series from TEX25 αⅢ up to TEX120 αⅢ . In αⅡ series, it can be used from TEX44 αⅡ to TEX160 αⅡ . Tokyo Head Office Convey segment Japan Steel Works, Ltd.
