OverviewTopGear internal gear pumps by SPX Process Equipment, under the Johnson
Pump brand, are designed for reliability and longevity in transporting both thin and thick liquids across various industries. These pumps are known for their robust design and high efficiency, catering to a wide range of applications from chocolate to diesel fuel.
Product RangesThe TopGear program is divided into three main ranges:
- L-range: Designed for low viscosity and high efficiency.
- G-range: General-purpose applications.
- H-range: Suitable for high-demand applications.
Key Features- Robust and reliable operation with smooth flow.
- Simple design with only two moving parts, ensuring easy maintenance and reduced downtime.
- Wide range of materials and high efficiency, conforming to API 676 standards.
Technical Know-HowSPX Process Equipment leverages technical expertise and customer insights to design gear pumps that meet diverse industrial needs. The pumps are equipped with features like electrical heating and built-on safety relief valves to handle various fluid characteristics, including explosive and viscous liquids.
Applications- Petrochemicals: Bitumen, diesel oil, crude oil, etc.
- Chemicals: Sodium silicate, acids, plastics, etc.
- Paint and Ink, Resins and Adhesives, Pulp & Paper, Food: Chocolate, vegetable oils, etc.
Features and Benefits- Improved priming and low NPSHr with ports above the centerline.
- Optimized teeth profile for smooth flow and efficiency.
- Flange connection options (EN, ANSI) and hydraulic design for optimized efficiency.
- Reduced leakage during thermal expansion and less downtime with front and back pull-out design.
- Prolonged service life with double ball bearing design and adjustable axial clearance.
Options- Shaft seal options include packed gland, single and double mechanical seals, lip seals, and cartridge seals.
- Heating and cooling jackets for optimal pump performance during start-up or shut-down.
- Safety relief valves to protect against overpressure, with options for single or double valves.
Operating PrincipleThe pump operates by creating an underpressure as the rotor and idler unmesh, allowing liquid to enter the cavities. The liquid is then transported in sealed pockets to the discharge side, where it is pushed into the discharge line.
Technical DataThe document provides detailed technical specifications for different pump models, including casing materials, maximum capacity, differential pressure, temperature, and viscosity limits.
