Overview of Flexible Impeller Pumps (FIP)The FIP range offers easy-to-maintain positive displacement pumps with excellent self-priming capabilities. These pumps can create a negative pressure, allowing them to operate without priming or filling, even with gas or air present in the system. They can achieve a suction lift of up to 5 meters in seconds.
Design and MaintenanceThe FIP pumps feature a compact design, minimizing space and installation requirements. They are available in close-coupled configurations with an IEC frame motor or as pedestal mounts. The unique three-piece design facilitates easy maintenance and cleaning, reducing downtime as the
pump does not need to be disconnected from the piping system.
Performance Features
FIP pumps provide pulsation-free and reversible flow, allowing for easy flow control by adjusting the pump speed. They handle products gently, evacuate air and gas, and can pump liquids containing non-abrasive solids. Impellers are available in various materials, including FDA-approved food-grade elastomers.
Material Variants- Bronze Version: Suitable for liquids like saltwater, mineral oils, and slurries, featuring BSP threads.
- Stainless Steel Industrial Version: Made from 316 stainless steel, suitable for non-hygienic applications, available with BSP or NPT threads.
- Stainless Steel Hygienic Version: Polished 316 stainless steel with hygienic connections, suitable for food and beverage applications, compliant with FDA regulations.
Operating Principle
The pump operates by creating a partial vacuum as the flexible impeller wings increase the volume at the inlet port, drawing liquid into the pump. The impeller then carries the liquid to the outlet port, maintaining a constant volume between the wings, allowing non-abrasive solids to pass through without damage. The liquid is discharged in a continuous flow as the wings bend and decrease the volume between them.
Applications
FIP pumps are versatile, suitable for applications in food and beverage processing, cosmetics, and various industrial processes involving non-abrasive liquids.
