For carbon steel, the YAG laser can cut up to 8mm, while the fiber laser can cut up to 6mm. For stainless steel, the YAG laser can cut up to 6mm, whereas the fiber laser can cut up to 4mm.

The fiber laser significantly outperforms the YAG laser in cutting speed across various thicknesses. For example, at 0.5mm thickness, the fiber laser cuts at 400mm/s compared to the YAG's 45mm/s.
Laser Source and Beam Characteristics
Both lasers have a wavelength of 1064nm. The YAG laser uses a solid YAG crystal, while the fiber laser uses a fiber source. The fiber laser has a smaller beam diameter of 0.1mm compared to the YAG's 0.2mm.
Transmission and Lifetime
The YAG laser uses different laser mirrors for transmission, whereas the fiber laser uses fiber wire. The fiber laser has a significantly longer lifetime of 100,000 hours compared to the YAG's 3,000 hours.
Power Consumption and Costs
The YAG laser consumes 20-30KW/hour, while the fiber laser consumes 10-15KW/hour. The cutting cost is 5.5 USD/hour for the YAG and 2.5 USD/hour for the fiber laser. The maintenance cost is higher for the YAG, with a maintenance rate of 10:1 compared to the fiber laser.
Efficiency and Usage Costs
The fiber laser is five times more efficient than the YAG laser. The usage cost is 13 USD/hour for the YAG and 6 USD/hour for the fiber laser.
