Product catalog summary
Overview: Laminated peelable shims are precision adjustment tools made from stacked layers of metal, composite, or mixed materials. These layers are glued together, allowing for easy peeling to achieve the desired thickness, thus eliminating the need for machining solid shims. This method offers precision comparable to traditional methods while reducing assembly time and costs.
Types of Shims:
  • Laminated Peelable Shims: Made from layers glued over the entire surface, suitable for high-precision adjustments.
  • Separable Shims: Layers are glued at the edges only, suitable for average precision and harsh environments.
Advantages:
  • Time savings of over 50% compared to traditional methods.
  • Easy and precise adjustment.
  • Reduction in stock requirements.
  • Economic and versatile, with options for bi-composition and various materials.
Shapes and Composition: Shims can be customized in any geometric shape and are available in mono-composition (same thickness layers) or bi-composition (different thicknesses on each side). Special shapes and materials can be added for specific requirements.
Material Selection: A wide range of materials is available, including metals like aluminum and steel, and polymers for specific needs like corrosion resistance or chemical resistance.
Technical Characteristics: The document provides detailed specifications for various materials, including standard dimensions, layer thicknesses, and resistance to traction and temperature.
Precision: Precision is determined by the thickness of individual layers, with specific tolerances provided for different thicknesses.
Note: Jicey reserves the right to modify specifications without notice to improve product performance.

Laminated Peelable & Separable Shims Brochure-1

Separable shims are made up of a stack of individual layers joinedto each other by points of glue on the edge only. They are used for assemblies that only require adjustment with average precision. The layers can be peeled off very easily by hand, which makes separable shims particularly suited for difficult climatic conditions and surroundings (public works, etc.). > Laminated peelable shims are highly technical adjustment shims. They are made up of a stack of individual layers glued together over their whole surface area, and they form a laminated block of compact appearance made up of several metal, composite or mixed (metal and polymer) layers. Each individual layer that makes up a shim can be peeled off very easily, until the precise thicknessrequired is obtained. The shim can therefore be perfectly and easily adjusted to compensate for the play in a mechanical assembly in a precise manner. This ingenious process avoids the machining and grinding of solid shims, while providing a level of precision that is comparable, or even superior. It also replaces the stacking of thin metal foils, thus avoiding the disadvantages of this type of adjustment. In addition to the gain in assembly time, the ease of use and the reduction in costs, laminated peelable shims enable stocks to be reduced by avoiding the need to keep conventional shims in many thicknesses. Whether standard or perfectly made to measure, to your dimensions and specifications, Jicey laminated peelable shims are available in a wide choice of materials to satisfy all your requirements. >
