Magnetic Arc Control Systems

Magnetic Arc Control Systems

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document details the Cyclomatic Series Magnetic Arc Control Systems, specifically the Control Unit Models 8020 and 8040, designed to enhance welding precision and quality by stabilizing and controlling arc oscillation and positioning.
Specifications: Both models operate on 115/220 VAC, 50/60 Hz power, with air/convection cooling. They measure 9.75 x 4 x 11.75 inches and weigh 12 lbs. The systems are compatible with various magnetic probes, each offering different capabilities in terms of field strength and application.
Key Features: The systems provide even heat distribution, prevent undercutting, eliminate porosity, and ensure sufficient penetration. They are particularly effective for welding exotic metals and solving common welding issues such as arc blow, large gaps, and inadequate sidewall fusion.
Probes: The document describes several probes, including the 4613A with four magnetic coils for dual-axis control, and others like the 4604, 4608C, and 4615, each with specific features and compatibility with the control units.
Problem Solutions: The Cyclomatic system addresses five main welding problems, including arc blow, large gaps, inadequate fusion, porosity, and insufficient heat distribution, by controlling arc oscillation and heat distribution.
Ordering Information: System packages include a control unit, probe assembly, remote interface cable, and operator's manual. Individual components and extension cables are also available.

Magnetic Arc Control Systems-1

Control Systems The Cyclomatic Series Magnetic Arc Control has been redesigned to provide the stability and precision a microprocessor control offers. Two new microprocessor controllers are available: Model 8020 is com- patible with four older style probes; Model 8040 dual axis controller Magnetic arc control provides even heat distribution, prevents undercut- ting, eliminates excessive porosity, en- sures sufficient penetration, and evens out the weld puddle. Combined with a magnetic probe, a magnetic field is created around the arc to precisely position, oscillate, and stabilize it. The Magnetic Arc System bolts onto your present automatic or semi-auto- matic welding torch and goes immedi- ately to work solving some of welding's toughest problems. By adding stability and control over arc oscillation and positioning, the Magnetic Arc Control ensures a quality weld, even when welding on exotic metals. 15 Goodyear St, Irvine, California 92618 U.S.A. • Tel: (949) 951-1515 • Fax: (949) 951-9237

Magnetic Arc Control Systems-2

CYCLOMATIC SERIES MAGNETIC ARC CONTROL This dual tip probe slips over a conventional TIG torch and can be used either for cross- seam weaving or in-line weaving. This single tip, water-cooled probe works well in tight conventional torches. With four independently controlled mag- netic coils, the 4613A probe has the highest capacity for multiple arc and weld bead profiles. This probe, coupled with the 8040 Controller, provides the ability to shift the entire arc pattern relative to the weld seam with position controls. This twin-tip, side mount probe is capable of delivering the full 600 gauss...

Magnetic Arc Control Systems-3

CYCLOMATIC SERIES MAGNETIC ARC CONTROL Cyclomatic’s Magnetic Arc Control System solves the five main problem areas of automatic arc welding. Any one of these problems can result in an unsatisfactory weld. This is especially so when exotic alloys are fabricated and when the end product is subjected to elevated temperatures, high pressures, unusual stress, or vibration patterns. PROBLEM SOLUTION Cyclomatic’s ability to control and direct the arc and control heat distribution between the parts being joined significantly improves uniformity of penetration and provides consistent, uniform welds. Arc...
