The articulation joint has a heavy-duty centre pin and oversized bush, as well as twin taper roller bearings on the bottom box joints. This can tolerate both vertical and horizontal loadings for durability and rigidity. With high breakout forces, it’s bucketloads more powerful than its competitors and our new rear chassis Layout provides 3.3% extra lift capacity than the previous model. POWER 200 The Cummins QSL 8.9 litre engine achieves high power (186kW, a 16% increase) and peak torque (1085NM, an 18% increase) at low revs for excellent response. EFFICIENT BY DESIGN The JCB 457 is designed to move more material for less. To achieve this, we’ve designed the engine, axles, driveline and hydraulics to work in harmony with each other, for ultimate efficiency. Our engine idle shutdown safely applies the brakes and turns the 457 off after a programmable amount of time. Automatic idle returns the 457’s engine to 700rpm after 30 secs of inactivity. 2 The 457’s Eco mode limits engine speed to 1800rpm and reduces power to 217hp for reduced fuel consumption. An efficient hydraulic system 5 A hydraulic cooling fan automatically reacts to ambient temperature and adjusts the 457’s fan speed to optimise cooling and reduce fuel consumption.
