Product catalog summary
Features
The Model 18940-0010 is a self-priming engine cooling pump with a bronze body and bearing housing, a Jabsco-Neoprene-Compound impeller, and a stainless-steel shaft. It includes a carbon-ceramic face-type shaft seal, sealed ball bearings, and 1-1/4" ID hose ports. The pump weighs 7 lb (3.2 kg) and uses a 6-1/2" full grip "A" belt pulley.
Installation and Operation
The pump can be mounted in any position, with intake and discharge ports determined by the pump's rotation direction. Proper installation involves adjusting the pump position for correct drive belt tension and ensuring airtight suction lines for self-priming. The pump should not run dry for more than 30 seconds and is suitable for liquids between 45° and 180°F. The cooling system should maintain a maximum of 15 psi output pressure.
Winterizing
To winterize, drain the pump by loosening the impeller housing bolts and flush the system with ethylene glycol-based antifreeze. Avoid petroleum-based rust inhibitors to prevent pump damage.
Applications
This pump is used for marine engine cooling and can replace the Sherwood model G-5 for various Chrysler and Lehman engines.
Service Instructions
Disassembly: Remove components such as the impeller housing, cam, and shaft assembly following specific steps to avoid damage.
Assembly: Clean and inspect all parts, lubricate the shaft, and carefully reassemble components, ensuring proper alignment and lubrication.
Parts List
A detailed parts list is provided, including part numbers and quantities for components like the impeller, housing, shaft, and bearings.
Warranty
The product is covered by a one-year limited warranty from Jabsco, a trademark of Xylem Inc.
