The Electromagnets Series PR is designed for applications requiring AC or DC power supply. Constructed with solid iron for both frame and plunger, these solenoids can perform axial pull or push-pull actions and are operable in any position. Coils are insulated with Class F material, and performance is based on an 80°C temperature rise in open air with a 35°C ambient temperature, fed at 105% of rated supply voltage.
Selection Guide
Choosing the appropriate solenoid requires knowledge of the required force, stroke, maximum ON time, minimum OFF time, ambient temperature, and supply voltage. The mechanical energy produced is constant, and any unused force is expended as impact force. It is crucial to select the smallest solenoid that performs the required work without exceeding the maximum working temperature. Duty cycle determination is essential, and AC solenoids require proper seating to avoid overheating. DC solenoids do not have this issue. Load should be applied along the main plunger axis, and stroke-limiting devices should be non-magnetic.
Duty Factor
The duty factor (ED%) is calculated as [Ti / (Ti + Tr)] x 100, where Ti is ON time and Tr is OFF time. The document provides a table of ON and OFF times for intermittently rated coils with standard ED values. For cycles exceeding 300 seconds, a continuously rated solenoid (ED=100) is recommended.
