It is crucial to select the smallest solenoid that performs the required work without exceeding the maximum working temperature. Load should be applied along the main plunger axis, and stroke-limiting devices should be non-magnetic.

Duty Factor
The duty factor (ED%) is calculated as [Ti / (Ti + Tr)] x 100, where Ti is ON time and Tr is OFF time. The document provides a table of ON and OFF times for intermittently rated coils with standard ED values. For cycles exceeding 300 seconds, a continuously rated solenoid (ED=100) is recommended.
