HCD series - Single displacement high performance hydraulic motor

Product catalog summary
Introduction and General Information
The HCD series motors are radial piston hydraulic motors designed for low speed and high torque applications. They feature a rotating shaft and stationary housing, with pistons that provide mechanical force. The design ensures high starting torque and efficiency, with minimal maintenance required. These motors are suitable for various applications including marine equipment, winches, and agricultural machinery.
Ordering Code
The ordering code for HCD motors includes specifications for interchangeability, distributor type, tachometer, displacement, series, shaft, and special features. This allows for customization based on specific application needs.
Technical Data
The catalogue provides detailed technical data for different motor sizes, including displacement, theoretical torque, maximum continuous pressure, speed, power, and weight. The HSM version offers a balanced shaft for reduced vibration at high speeds.
Hydraulic Fluid Recommendations
It is recommended to use hydraulic oils with a minimum viscosity index of 95 and anti-wear additives. The optimal working temperature should not exceed 70°C. Fire-resistant oils have specific limitations on pressure and speed. Regular oil analysis is advised to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Drain and Flushing Recommendations
Proper drainage and flushing are crucial for maintaining motor performance. The catalogue provides guidelines for ensuring adequate lubrication and preventing contamination.
Installation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
Instructions for motor installation, start-up, handling, storage, and maintenance are provided. The document also includes troubleshooting tips to address common issues.
Special Features and Accessories
The HCD series offers features such as high volumetric efficiency, smooth operation at low speeds, and built-in valves. Accessories like speed sensors and splined billets are available to enhance functionality.
Drain Recommendations
Ensure the motor is filled with hydraulic fluid before start-up to prevent air bubbles and drainage. Leakage line pressure should not exceed 10 bar, and lines should be short with minimal resistance. A check valve may be necessary to prevent drainage.
Flushing
The flushing outlet port should be at the highest position. Maximum case pressure is 10 bar continuous and 15 bar peak. Flushing flow varies by motor model, and the drain oil viscosity should be at least 20 cSt.
Standard Shaft Seal Features
Seals are made from SIMRIT® materials, suitable for temperatures from -40°C to +160°C. The seals are designed for mineral and synthetic oils, with specific tolerances and roughness requirements for housing and shafts.
Formulas
Includes formulas for calculating torque, power, speed, displacement, flow, and pressure. Conversion factors for length, mass, power, force, volume, pressure, torque, flow, and speed are provided.
Motor Installation and Start-Up
Motors must be handled carefully during transport and installation. Use appropriate tools and ensure the motor is stable. Check for damage before installation. Use correct screws and ensure the supporting structure is stable and vibration-free. The motor must be filled with oil before starting, and the case drain should not exceed 10 bar. Flushing is recommended for high temperatures or heavy-duty conditions.
Motor Handling and Storage
Motors should be packed and stored properly to avoid damage. Use appropriate lifting tools and methods to prevent accidents during handling. Ensure the motor shaft is not damaged during transport.
Maintenance Operations
Maintenance should only be performed by trained personnel when the motor is stopped and depressurized. HCD motors require minimal maintenance if used according to specifications. The choice of working fluid is critical for performance and longevity. Special considerations are needed when using fire-resistant fluids.
Instructions and Advices
Bearing life is influenced by factors like motor speed, pressure, and oil cleanliness. Theoretical lifetime (L10) and average lifetime (L50) are provided for reference. Motor creep speed is inherent and can be managed with negative brakes if necessary.
Special Features
Options like marine painting, speedy-sleeve for shaft protection, high-pressure shaft seals, and counterclockwise rotation are available upon request to enhance motor performance in specific environments.
Cavitation and Freewheeling
Cavitation can occur in special applications, leading to potential damage. Proper circuit design and auxiliary systems can mitigate cavitation effects. Freewheeling circuits are designed for low and high-speed operations to minimize energy loss.
Troubleshooting
Common issues like excessive noise, overheating, and oil leakage are addressed with potential causes and solutions. Regular checks and maintenance can prevent these problems.
Technical Data
The document provides detailed specifications for the HCD05 series, including displacement, torque, pressure, speed, power, and temperature range. These parameters are essential for selecting the appropriate motor for specific applications.
Performance Diagrams and Bearing Life
The performance diagrams illustrate the operational capabilities of the HCD series under various conditions. For example, at 120 bar and 300 rpm, the average bearing life is 50,000 hours. Another scenario at 250 bar and 100 rpm results in a bearing life of 10,500 hours. The diagrams also highlight the importance of maintaining a reference viscosity of 40 cSt for optimal performance.
Technical Data
The technical data section provides detailed specifications for different models within the HCD series, including displacement, specific torque, maximum continuous pressure, hydrostatic test pressure, maximum continuous speed, peak speed, and maximum continuous power. The data is presented for various displacements ranging from 193 cc to 493 cc, with specific torque values increasing with displacement.
Ordering Code
The ordering code section provides a structured format for specifying product configurations, including distributor type, tachometer, displacement, shaft type, and special features. This section is crucial for ensuring the correct product configuration is ordered.
Installation Drawings
Installation drawings for different configurations of the HCD series are provided, detailing the physical dimensions and mounting requirements. These drawings are essential for proper installation and integration into existing systems.
Operational Guidelines
The document outlines operational guidelines, including continuous operation, intermittent operation, and peak operation conditions. It stresses the importance of maintaining ideal fluid conditions and temperature ranges to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the hydraulic motors.
Conclusion
This catalogue serves as a comprehensive guide for understanding the specifications and operational capabilities of the HCD series hydraulic motors. It provides essential information for selecting, ordering, and operating these products effectively.

HYDRAULIC FLUID RECOMMENDATIONS Fluid selection In general, we recommend the use of hydraulic oils with minimum viscosity index of 95, with anti-wear additives (ISO HM and HV). Once normal working temperature is reached, the drain oil viscosity must be at least 20 cSt, preferably in the range from 30 to 50 cSt. HE oils (ecological fluids) are allowed, but must be used with particular attention, because them can influence the motor seals compatibility, and can reduce motor performances and life. Please contact us in case of HE oils usage. Optimal viscosity selection Referring the first approximated...

HYDRAULIC FLUID RECOMMENDATIONS Hydraulic systems oil must always be filtered. The choice of filtration grade derives from needs of service life and money spent. In order to obtain stated service life it is important to follow our recommendations concerning filtration grade. When choosing the filter it is important to consider the amount of dirt particles that filter can absorb and still operate satisfactorily. For that reason we recommend filters showing when you need to substitute filtering cartridge. · 25 μm filtration required in most applications · 10 μm filtration in closed circuit applications...
