Product catalog summary
Overview: RHODUNA® Diamond Bright is a rhodium electrolyte designed for creating brilliant-white, ultra-bright coatings with high lightness and brilliance. It offers excellent covering speed, low porosity, and high corrosion resistance, with layer thicknesses up to 5 μm that can be deposited crack-free.
Advantages:
  • Ultra-bright coatings with unmatched lightness and brilliance.
  • Good covering speed and minor porosity.
  • Excellent throwing power and high abrasion resistance.
  • Suitable for rack and barrel plating.
Applications: The product is suitable for use in jewelry, watches, spectacle frames, writing implements, and technical applications such as reed contacts.
Technical Specifications:
  • Electrolyte Type: Strongly acidic.
  • Metal Content: 2 (1.6 - 3.0) g/l Rh.
  • pH Value: Less than 1.
  • Operating Temperature: 40°C (RT - 65°C).
  • Current Density Range: 1 - 2 (0.5 - 10) A/dm².
  • Plating Speed: 0.08 μm/min at 1 A/dm² and 0.10 μm/min at 2 A/dm².
  • Anode Material: Pt-Ti (PLATINODE® Pt/Ti) or MMO (PLATINODE® 187).
Coating Characteristics:
  • Coating: Rhodium with 99.99 wt. % purity.
  • Colour: Brilliant-white and ultra-bright.
  • Hardness: Approximately 800 - 900 HV.
  • Max Coating Thickness: Approximately 3 - 5 μm.
  • Density: Approximately 12.4 g/cm³.
Performance Comparison: RHODUNA® Diamond Bright demonstrates superior abrasion resistance and color measurement (CIE-L*a*b*) compared to commercially available rhodium electrolytes, with fewer pores and thicker layers.
