Description IPG introduces the Smart Series, a full functionalityDWDM EDFA featuring variable gain and transientcontrol. These amplifiers offer powers up to 23dBm, are available in pre-amp, line and booster versions,and feature mid-stage access with up to a 12dB lossbudget.The wavelength flattened gain is dynamically main-tained at the desired value as input channels are added or dropped and the input power varies over the full input range. All optical parameters are con- tinuously monitored and can be accessed through an RS232 interface. IPGs scientific and engineering resources are avail-able to tailor parameters and configurations to themost sophisticated and demanding network solutionrequirements. Technology IPG`s propriety technology combines electronic and optical gain control. Industry-leading tran- sient gain control performance is achieved underinstantaneous full-range input signal transitionswith minimum overshoot and undershoot.
