This compact shelf has 4 I/O card slots and accommodates any combination of 4 ULH I/O blades including transponders (2.5G multi-rate, 10G and 40G) and optical amplifiers (pre-amplifiers, booster amplifiers, Raman signal amplifiers and optical pumps for EDFA-based Remote Optically Pumped Amplifiers.) The shelf is equipped with two load-sharing power supplies and a control unit (CU). The CU provides status monitoring, control and adjustment of the installed blades and hosts the SNMP Management Information Base (MIB) for the system. The 2RU ULH shelf is ideally suited to very long distances in single-channel optical transmission applications including high voltage electrical power, transportation and pipeline telemetry networks. The control unit in each shelf is the “server”, where the SNMP agent, HTTP agent and the system MIB reside. A 100 Bt connection on the CU provides MIB access.
