Product catalog summary
Overview: The Introtek Advantage offers high-quality, functional, and dependable products manufactured to the highest medical device standards, supported by a three-year warranty. The BDC/BDR series clamp-on sensors are designed for detecting air bubbles, air-in-line, and liquid levels in rigid tubing.
Specifications: The BDR sensors are suitable for various tubing materials and sizes, providing reliable bubble detection without a mounting base. The BDC sensors include a mounting base. Both types work with rigid tubing and utilize high-frequency acoustic energy for detection. Key features include non-invasive technology, low cost, premium performance, and no requirement for field calibration.
Applications: These sensors are used in patient-connected medical devices such as apheresis, heart-lung bypass, auto-transfusion, dialysis, infusion pumps, cardiac assist pumps, and perfusion-based life support devices. They are also applicable in chromatography, immunoassay, diagnostic equipment, liquid and chemical dispensing, and blood processing equipment.
Technology: The sensors use piezoelectric crystals to emit ultrasonic energy pulses through tubing. If air is present, the signal does not return within the specified time window, triggering a warning. The technology is unaffected by fluid color or tubing material, and the air detection threshold can be user-specified.
Functional Specifications: The sensors are made of rigid epoxy resin and are compatible with rigid or less pliable tubing. They may require a coupling agent for improved acoustic coupling. The sensors operate within a temperature range of +41° to +140°F and can be stored between -4° to +185°F. They are designed to meet various IEC standards for electrical fast transients, radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge, radiated immunity, and power frequency magnetic fields.
Warranty: Introtek provides a three-year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty covers repair or replacement at no cost, excluding transportation, if defects are found upon factory inspection.

The Introtek Advantage provides products of unsurpassed quality, functionality and dependability that are manufactured to the highest medical device standards and backed by a three-year warranty. BDC/BDR Clamp-On Sensors BDC/BDR series clamp-on sensors detect air bubbles, air-in-line and liquid level in rigid tubing HIGHLIGHTS N Non-invasive technology does not contact the fluid or require a break in the tubing. N Low cost, premium performance. N Wide range of sizes and mounting options. N Fastest air bubble detection circuitry available. N Not affected by fluid color BDR Sensor Shown with rigid, metal tubing in place N Air detection threshold or bubble ntrotek BDR round clamp-on sensors are N No field calibration is required. designed to work with a wide range of tubing materials and sizes. In conjunction with Introtek circuitry they provide the most reliable clamp-on bubble detection. BDR is recommended for applications where a mounting base is not a requirement. Used for similar applications, BDC clamp-on sensors are available with a mounting base. Both sensors are designed to work with rigid tubing. TECHNOLOGY Introtek air bubble detectors and liquid level sensors utilize high-frequency acoustic energy to monitor tubing APPLICATIONS N Air bubble, air-in-line and liquid level sensing N Patient-connected medical devices, including: • Heart-lung bypass • Infusion pumps • Cardiac assist pumps • Perfusion-based “life support” devices N Chromatography and separations technology N Immunoassay and diagnostic equipment N Liquid and chemical dispensing N Blood processing equipment or vessels for the presence of air, air bubbles, foam or liquid. The sensor’s piezoelectric crystals are placed in direct contact with the desired point of detection. Air detection sensors and electronics emit pulses of ultrasonic energy which are sent through tubing and returned within a specified “window” of time. If air is present, the ultrasonic signal does not arrive within this “window” of time and a warning or dry signal is immediately transmitted.

BDC/BDR Series Sensor SENSOR Please contact an Introtek Application Specialist to determine the optional configuration for your application. FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS Sensor: BDC and BDR Sensors are cast of a rigid epoxy resin and work well with rigid or less pliable tubing. Clamp-on style sensors must be sized to the exact tubing outside dimensions. It may be necessary to provide a tubing sample in order to provide an air detection system that meets application specifications. The clamp-on style sensor works well as a dry-line sensor for many types of thin wall metal tubing with an outside diameter...
