Product catalog summary
Installation & Calibration Overview
This document serves as a detailed guide for the installation and calibration of the ED3-EP and ED4-EP SkidWeigh Plus systems on electric pallet trucks. It covers setup, calibration, testing, and usage to ensure optimal performance.
Safety Precautions
Before beginning installation, disconnect the vehicle battery. Ensure all components are securely mounted and do not interfere with vehicle controls. Only qualified technicians should perform the installation. Use soldering or crimp connectors for wire connections, ensuring proper insulation.
Electro-Magnetic Compatibility
The system adheres to CE standards for electromagnetic compatibility, ensuring stability against interference and controlled emissions.
System Components
The SkidWeigh Plus system comprises a digital indicator, a hydraulic pressure transducer, and necessary mounting hardware. It functions by measuring hydraulic pressure changes to determine load weight.
Pressure Transducer Installation
Install the transducer in the hydraulic line between the lift control valve and lift cylinder. Ensure the hydraulic circuit is pressure-free before installation and use thread seal for a secure fit.
Digital Indicator Mounting
Mount the digital indicator using the provided bracket and anti-vibration mount at a convenient location on the vehicle.
Electrical Connections
Connect the system using specified wire colors for power and transducer connections. The system includes automatic lift motor deactivation during weighing cycles.
Lift Motor Control Methods
Two methods are available for integrating the system with the lift motor control: Method A involves splicing into the lift control switch wire, while Method B involves splicing into the solenoid coil wire.
Power Protection
The system includes internal short circuit protection and does not require an external fuse. It also features load dump and reversal power supply protection.
Power Switch and Operation
The system has a main power switch. Turn off the system when weighing is not required to operate the vehicle normally.
Date/Time Setup
Set the date and time by turning on the power and using the keypad to adjust settings.
Calibration Procedure
The document outlines a calibration procedure to ensure accurate weighing functionality.
Calibration Procedure for ED3-EP & ED4-EP SkidWeigh Plus
Overview: The calibration process for the ED3-EP & ED4-EP SkidWeigh Plus is automatic and involves lifting both empty and loaded forks. A known load weight is required for accurate calibration.
Calibration Steps:
  • Preparation: Ensure a known load weight is available. Use a weight between 50% to 80% of the pallet truck's maximum capacity.
  • System Setup: Turn on the power switch. The LCD will display the software version, serial number, and date/time.
  • Empty Fork Calibration: Lower the empty forks to the ground, ensuring no hydraulic pressure. Press and hold the 'F' key until prompted to enter a number. Enter '0' and lift the empty forks until they stop automatically. Lower the forks to complete zero weight calibration.
  • Loaded Fork Calibration: Lower the empty forks, then pick up a known load weight. Enter this weight into the system and lift the loaded forks until they stop automatically. The system will store the calibrated weight.
Optional Capabilities: The system supports Bluetooth printers and barcode scanners for additional functionality.
Proper Weighing Procedure:
  • Ensure the digital indicator is powered on.
  • Insert forks into the pallet and lower them to the ground.
  • Lift the load until the cylinder stops automatically. The weight will display on the LCD.
  • Press 'P' to print a load weight ticket if needed.
Notes: The system can display weights in pounds or kilograms based on the input. Ensure the correct unit is used during calibration.

* Installation & Calibration manual and operator usage instruction Operational principal The ED3-EP SkidWeigh Plus operational concept is based on the hydraulic pressure transducer mounted in the vehicle lifting hydraulic circuit, lift accurate technology and specific software. The increase in the hydraulic pressure will activate the specific “weighing cycle / algorithm ” and initiate automatic motion control of the hydraulic lift cylinder. The microprocessor will take a readout only of the predetermined valid pressure transducer input signals at the sample rate of 16000 readings per measurement...

Consult vehicle wiring diagram ! Method B. Use two Black wires and splice them in series with one of the lift solenoid coil wires activating the lift motor. Disconnect one of the original solenoid coil wire ( From either positive or negative terminal of the solenoid coil ) and splice two BLACK wires in series to disconnected wire and solenoid terminal. Note: Method B. The predetermined motion of the lifting cylinder and the load weight measurement “weighing cycle” will be initiated and controlled automatically by the specific software algorithm based on the input from the pressure transducer signal....

changed (Month, Day, Year, Hours, Minutes, Seconds). On the last correction, seconds item press “Enter key” confirm new date / time set up. Weighing function calibration procedure The ED3-EP & ED4-EP SkidWeigh Plus calibration is automatic and is done by lifting empty and loaded forks above the ground to initiate automatic weighing cycle. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A KNOWN LOAD WEIGHT AND KEEP IT NEARBY TO COMPLETE THE CALIBRATION. For the best results use at least minimum calibration load test weight of 50% to 80% of maximum lifting capacity of the electric pallet truck. Use customer floor scale...
