Precision Manual Wedge Grips - 2716-030-1

The Instron® 2716-030 Series precision manual wedge grips deliver dependable performance and precise alignment for tensile testing across a broad spectrum of materials - including composites, metals, and other rigid specimens. Designed to meet the stringent alignment requirements of Nadcap AC7122 and AC7101, these grips ensure consistent and repeatable results1. These manual, self-centering wedge grips utilize a moving body design to provide secure and symmetrical clamping. Initial gripping force is applied manually via a ratchet handle, and as the test load increases, the wedge mechanism increases the gripping force proportionally. A worm gear drive enables smooth, synchronized jaw movement, ensuring accurate specimen alignment throughout the test. The grips are engineered for ease of use and enhanced productivity. Jaw faces can be swapped in seconds without tools, and “piggyback" adapters allow for quick integration of fixtures for compression or flex tests - without removing the grips from the system. • Safe, ergonomic ratchet handle for manual operation • Self-centering moving body design ensures precise alignment compliant with Nadcap requirements • Tool-free jaw face replacement for fast setup changes • Wide operating temperature range: -80 to +250 °C (-112 to +482 °F) without part or lubricant changes • Adjustable specimen stop for consistent positioning • Robust gripping performance with repeatable results • Enclosed design protects against dirt and debris • Multiple jaw face sizes and surface options available • Piggyback adapters enable fixture installation without grip removal 1. New 6800 Series systems with factory fitted grips meet the alignment specifications in the current Nadcap checklists. Achievement of Nadcap alignment specifications is critically dependent on the total testing system configuration and cannot be guaranteed, solely, by using 2716-030 grips. If you require Nadcap certification, then this must be discussed directly with Instron to ensure the suitability of your testing system.
