Jenbacher gas engines provide half of peak load power

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document discusses the implementation of GE's Jenbacher gas engines at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town in Jakarta, Indonesia. These engines provide a cost-effective and environmentally friendly power solution, supplying half of the complex's peak load power.
Specifications: Six Jenbacher J620 gas engines were installed, each with a 2.7 MW power output, totaling 16.2 MW. The engines operate on natural gas with an electrical efficiency of 42.1% and emissions of 500 NOx mg/Nm3.
Procedures: The engines are used during peak hours from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and can operate in island mode during blackouts to provide base load power.
Environmental Impact: The use of Jenbacher gas engines has significantly reduced CO2 emissions by more than 50%, earning the complex the Platinum Award for Green Building Certification in 2011 and the Energy ASEAN award in 2012.
Customer Advantages: The engines offer a cost-effective alternative to other fuel-burning engines, reduce CO2 emissions by over 12,744,000 kg annually, and provide flexible, reliable power.
Ecomagination Initiative: GE's commitment to sustainable solutions is highlighted through the Ecomagination initiative, which promotes high-efficiency, low-emission power generation technologies.
Technical Data: The document provides key technical data, including the number of units, fuel type, electrical output, and commissioning year (2007).
Testimonials: Pak Slamet Ristono, the general manager of engineering and maintenance at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, praises the efficiency and reliability of the Jenbacher gas engines, emphasizing their role in achieving grid independence amidst rising electricity tariffs.
GE Distributed Power: GE's Distributed Power business offers a range of industrial gas engines and services, supporting over 35,000 gas engines worldwide with a global service network.

Jenbacher gas engines provide half of peak load power-1

Jenbacher gas engines provide half of peak load power Grand Indonesia Shopping Town Jakarta, Indonesia GE's Distributed Power technology creates flexible, efficient, low-emissions power PT Grand Indonesia manages Grand Indonesia Shopping Town (GIST), a magnificent, multi-use complex of retail shops, offices, and hotel and apartment lodgings in Jakarta, Indonesia. To obtain the 27.8 MVA of electricity it needs to operate, the mall must burn more than 560,000 cubic meters of fuel each month — which means that the utility spends about 50 percent of its operational expenses for fuel and electricity. Instead of resorting to prohibitively expensive power generation from engines that burn other available fuels, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town chose a much more cost-effective option: GE's Jenbacher gas engines. In 2007, six Jenbacher J620 gas engines, each with a 2.7 MW power output, were installed at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town to operate during peak hours. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Distributed Power technology supplies half of the complex's peak load power. And in case of a blackout, the engines can run in island mode and provide base load. Grand Indonesia Shopping Town also has posted impressive environmental protection achievements. In 2011, it won the Platinum Award for Green Building Certification, and in 2012, it won the Energy ASEAN award, in large part because the Jenbacher gas engines reduced CO2 emissions by more than 50 percent compared to the mall's emissions if connected to the grid.
