INDUCTION HEATING APPLICATION NOTE COMPONENT: Large to Medium Bearing Race SPECIFICATIONS: Part Name: Bearing Ring up to 1.4 m OD Material: Cf53, C45, 42CrMo4 Application: Harden Raceways Machine Type: InductoScan with special module Production Rate: Scan rate approx. 12 mm/sec at 2.5 mm case depth Power Supply Type: UP12 Power & Frequency: 100 kW / 10 kHz MACHINE DESCRIPTION: InductoScan base machine with special module for bearing rings. The transformer is mounted on a spring-loaded x-y slide. Rings are loaded with a crane into the load position. The component is then moved into the hardening station. When the part reaches the hardening station, it is moved against the coil (which is equipped with a ceramic guiding part.) Thus, a precise coupling distance is ensured for the entire hardening process. The part then rotates for scan hardening via a circular axis (a calculation programme being used in the Siemens 840D control to minimize the transition zone.)
