Priming If liquid is below level of pump, some means should be provided in installation to prime pump - such as a riser pipe. If there is a suction lift, use a foot valve or check valve to hold prime. In general, keep suction lift to minimum and avoid unnecessary bends in suction line. Before starting pump, make sure air bleeder valve or spray gun is open - or unloader/relief valve is adjusted to its lowest pressure.
