Njørdal™ Marine Sheet and Plate is a high-end aluminium product designed for premium yachts and ships. It is based on the 5083 alloy and offers a combination of strength, lightness, and durability, making it ideal for marine environments.
Specifications
Njørdal™ is manufactured using established techniques and enhanced through dedicated thermo-dynamic processing. It ensures precise tolerances, allowing hulls and superstructures to meet designers' calculations accurately. The material is certified according to ISO regulations and the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI).
Performance
Njørdal™ offers a 15% strength increase over traditional 5083 aluminium. It withstands harsh marine environments and remains durable even when unpainted. The material's performance in the Nitric Acid Mass Loss Test (NAMLT) shows a mass loss lower than 50% of the maximum permitted value.
Weldability
All welding techniques applicable to 5083 can be used with Njørdal™. Recommended filler wires include 5556 A or 5183, preferably with a magnesium content greater than 4.6%.
Mechanical Properties
The minimum yield strength (Rp0.2) and ultimate tensile strength (Rm) for Njørdal™ H116 and H111 are significantly higher compared to 5083 H111, ensuring enhanced performance.
