Hydro Filterra Bioretention System

Hydro Filterra Bioretention System

Product catalog summary
Overview
The Hydro Filterra™ Bioretention System is an advanced stormwater filtration solution that integrates vegetation with engineered soils to achieve high levels of pollutant removal. It is designed for both new developments and retrofits, offering a compact footprint suitable for various site types.
Design and Pollutant Removal
The system is capable of removing up to 85% of Total Suspended Solids (TSS), 60-70% of phosphorus, 42-45% of nitrogen, and up to 82% of heavy metals. It also predicts over 93% removal of oil and grease. Compared to conventional biofilters, Hydro Filterra™ offers superior performance in high-density and retrofit applications with a significantly reduced land-take of 0.2-0.3% of the site area.
System Components and Functionality
The system comprises a concrete chamber, a mulch layer, unique soil filter media, and a drainage system. Stormwater flows through these layers, undergoing physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes such as sedimentation, adsorption, and biodegradation. The treated water is then discharged via a connected drain.
Aesthetic and Installation Benefits
Hydro Filterra™ enhances urban aesthetics by resembling a tree box while providing stormwater treatment. It is delivered pre-packaged for easy installation, with activation occurring post-construction to avoid contamination.
Maintenance
Annual maintenance involves two visits: one in spring and another in autumn. Tasks include inspection, debris removal, filter media evaluation, plant health assessment, and mulch replacement.

Hydro Filterra Bioretention System-1

Product Profile enhanced biofiltration system that packages as a conveyance device or as part of an attenuation or infiltration system. The small footprint makes it ideal for both new developments and retrofit to existing ones. Advantages Over Conventional Biofilters Hydro Filterra™ is similar in concept to conventional bioretention filters or rain gardens. However, unlike these devices, it does not require a prolonged period of contact time to remove pollutants. Instead, specially engineered filter media within the Hydro Filterra™ allows high volume throughput whilst achieving high pollutant removal. This allows for a more compact device, with the surface area of the Hydro Filterra™ only 0.2 to 0.3% of the drained site See the table below for typical pollutant removal. Hydro Filterra Bioretention System-2

S tor mw at er Hydro Filterra™ How it Works The system consists of a concrete chamber, a 75 mm mulch layer, approximately 500 mm of unique soil filter media, an observation / clean out facility, a drain system and an appropriate type of plant, eg. flowers, grasses, shrub or tree. Stormwater runoff drains directly from impervious surfaces through an inlet structure in the concrete box and flows through the mulch, plant and soil filter media. High pollutant removal is achieved by means of the multiple natural treatment systems inherent in this unique media blend through a variety of physical, chemical...
