A pilot-operated, pressure reducing/relieving valve, Type PR12-S6, is designed for stable input flow circuits. It features a screw-in, cartridge-style, spool-type design with an internal pilot and spring chamber drain, suitable for secondary circuit pressure regulation.
In steady state, the valve allows bi-directional flow from port ② to ①. When a pre-set pressure is reached at ①, the cartridge restricts input flow at ② to maintain steady pressure at ①. If pressure at ① exceeds the set point, the spool shifts to relieve pressure from ① to ③ until the set pressure is restored.

On attainment of a pre-determined pressure at © , the cartridge shifts upward to restrict the input flow at ® , thereby regulating pressure at © to keep the pressure at © steady. The spring chamber constantly drained at © to prevent the pressure at ® impact the spool. In this mode, when the pressure at © exceeds the setting pressure, the spool will shift to relieve © to © , until the pressure at © regains the setting pressure.
