QUALYFAN user manual

Product catalog summary
User Manual Overview: This document serves as a user manual for the Qualyfan selection software by HW Ventilation. It is designed to help users select the appropriate fan for their applications while ensuring compliance with the Energy-related Products (ErP) directive 2015.
System Requirements: The software is compatible with x86 and x64 architectures on Windows Vista, 7, 8, and Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2. Minimum hardware requirements include a 1.6 GHz processor, 1024 MB RAM, 100 MB free hard drive space, and a DirectX 9 video card.
Installation Instructions: To install Qualyfan, download the installation .zip file, unzip it, and run the .exe file. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. An uninstall icon is provided for proper removal of the software.
Starting Qualyfan: Users can select their preferred language (English or Russian) upon launching. The software includes a feature to redirect users to the ErP Directive page on the HW Ventilation website.
Selection Screen Features: The main interface includes a fan selection dashboard and a graphs area. Users can adjust selection settings via the 'Select options' button, which includes air properties, noise options, and other parameters.
Selection Options: Users can configure air properties such as fluid type, temperature, altitude, barometric pressure, and humidity. Selection options allow sorting and setting limits for fan performance characteristics.
Noise Options: Users can specify noise type (power or pressure), scale (dB(A) or dB), and distance for noise calculation.
Graph Information: Users can choose which data to display on the selection graph.
Other Options: Power units can be set to kW, W, HP, or BTU/h. Tip clearance is adjustable, and ErP compliance can be verified.
Impellers Search: The selection dashboard allows users to choose blade material and type. Options include various materials like polypropylene, glass-reinforced polyamide, and aluminum, each with specific applications and operating temperatures.
Material Specifications: Various materials are specified for use in impellers, each with different temperature ranges and properties. For example, Glass Reinforced Polyamide (PA6) is suitable from -40°C to +120°C, while Aluminum can withstand temperatures from -80°C to +250°C. Other materials include Ryton, Antistatic Polyamide, and Antistatic, Self-extinguishing Polyamide, each with specific temperature ranges and properties.
Impeller Selection Process: The software provides both automatic and manual selection processes for impellers. In automatic selection, users input the desired airflow and static pressure, and the software suggests suitable impellers. Manual selection allows users to input diameter and rpm when airflow and pressure are unknown, generating performance graphs for the selected impeller.
Software Tools and Features: The software includes several tools:
  • Refresh Button: Updates the selection screen.
  • Datasheet Button: Generates a summary of the selected impeller's characteristics.
  • Noise Button: Displays sound power and pressure graphs, adjustable by distance.
  • Performance Points Button: Saves performance data for use in KULI software.
  • Save/Open Selection Buttons: Allows saving and opening of selections.
  • Angle Button: Compares performance at different pitch angles.
  • Print Button: Prints selected data with customizable information.
  • Compare Impellers: Compares performance across different impellers or conditions.
  • Select Button: Finalizes the selection process, displaying performance data and selectable impellers.
Impeller Coding System: Impellers are coded by diameter, number of hub cavities and blades, operating temperature, blade type, material, and rpm.
ErP Compliance: The software includes a feature to verify compliance with the ErP Directive 2015, guiding users through the verification process and providing a certificate if compliant.
