Product catalog summary
Introduction
PurgElite® introduces its 5th generation inflatable tube and pipe weld purging systems, designed for diameters ranging from 1 to 12 inches. This new design includes a pioneering 1-inch system, offering significant advancements in welding efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Key Features and Benefits
  • Innovative Design: The system features two inflatable dams connected by an inert gas purging tube, reducing the volume to purge and saving time and gas.
  • Low Profile Valve: A new, simpler valve design minimizes costs and complications, allowing for the first-ever 1-inch system.
  • Durability and Safety: The system avoids the use of outdated purge bladders that can burst, ensuring a safer and more reliable operation.
  • Material Compatibility: Suitable for all grades of stainless steel, duplex, exotic metals, and alloys, with no metal parts exposed to scratch polished surfaces.
  • Cost Efficiency: The system uses less inert gas and offers faster purging times, leading to significant cost savings.

Technical Specifications
  • Size Range: 1 to 12 inches (25 to 300 mm).
  • Temperature Resistance: Protection sleeve resistant to hot metal up to 700ºC.
  • Repeatability: Ensures consistent, high-quality welds with controlled gas pressure.

Comparison with Old Systems
  • Old Argweld® MKIV System: Featured large profile valves and metal parts that could scratch pipes, with higher risk of burst bladders.
  • PurgElite® System: Offers a streamlined design with no complicated valves, reducing the risk of errors and damage.

Usage and Installation
  • Ease of Use: Quick and easy installation with a single hose for inflation and purging.
  • Positioning Indicator: A glow strip aids in accurate positioning under the weld.

Performance and Savings
  • Purging Time: Significantly reduced purging time compared to traditional methods, with charts available upon request.
  • Gas Usage: Lower inert gas consumption, contributing to cost savings.

Additional Products
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques also offers a range of other welding products, including Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems, Weld Trailing Shields™, and PurgEye® Weld Purge Monitors™.

Conclusion
The PurgElite® Inflatable Pipe Weld Purging Systems represent a significant advancement in welding technology, offering efficiency, cost savings, and high-quality results. These systems are ideal for professionals seeking reliable and innovative solutions in tube and pipe welding.

INFLATABLE TUBE & PIPE WELD PURGING SYSTEMS for 1 to 12 inch (25 to 300 mm) Incorporating “NEW’ 1 Inch (25 mm) System, a first to the market place, another great innovation by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques NEW 5TH GENERATION DESIGNS bringing to the market place for the first time a ‘NEW’ 1 inch (25 mm) System for small diameter tubes and pipes! High quality butt welding of tubes to tubes or fittings and pipes to pipes and fittings for 1” to 12” diameters After 35 years of manufacturing expertise in the field of Tube and Pipe Purging Dams, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques brings to the market yet another great innovation to help tube and pipe welders save money, time, gas and achieve better welds. These even more advanced systems, with many unique features keep us right at the forefront of technical innovation, by bringing you a simple low cost solution to make the cleanest welds. With dramatic savings due to the new design, we have reduced prices significantly whilst at the same time, bringing you a technically superior product. The volume to purge is kept small, resulting in significant savings in both time and cost of inert gas used. The PurgElite® Inflatable Pipe Weld Purging Systems have two heavily protected inflatable dams connected by a new design inert gas purging tube. The inert gas purges air as well as other unwanted gases and vapours out of the space between the dams with inert gas coming through a unique, much lower cost, simpler, trouble free valve than used on other designs. This new, low profile valve allows us to manufacture a 1” Inflatable Pipe Purging System which has never been achieved previously. Don’t use old fashioned purge bladders that burst or makeshift or homemade devices like cardboard or paper dams or foam bungs. They contain a lot of water, water vapour and air, put your weld at risk and end up costing you more money. Use the proper tool for the job!

Purge time for PurgElite® Inflatable Tube and Pipe Weld Purge System to less than 100 ppm oxygen PurgElite® PURGE TIME (to 0.1% oxygen and less) By using PurgElite® Tube and Pipe Purging Systems, the main savings, over any other system, are obtained in reduced purging and waiting time, and in the much lower quantity of inert gas used. Purging with old fashioned systems and home made devices will require a flow rate of at least 24 ltrs/min (50 cu ft/hr) for longer periods. The chart below shows a typical purge time to reduce the air space to less than 0.01% oxygen. Test Pipe Diameter 4” (100 mm)...
