SR11-TR PYRANOMETER

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The SR11-TR is a high-accuracy solar radiation sensor designed for general high-accuracy observations. It measures solar radiation received by a plane surface from a 180-degree field of view, known as hemispherical solar radiation, expressed in W/m2. It can be used outdoors under the sun or indoors with lamp-based solar simulators, with orientation depending on the application.

Operation
The SR11-TR is user-friendly and can be connected directly to data logging systems. It features a 4 to 20 mA output corresponding to a transmitted range of 0 to 1600 W/m2, adjustable upon request. It complies with the ASTM E2848 standard for PV system performance monitoring.

Design
The SR11-TR features a thermal sensor with black coating, two glass domes, and an anodised aluminium body housing the transmitter.

Uncertainty Evaluation
Measurement uncertainty depends on various factors, and guidelines for evaluation are provided in the manuals. Spreadsheets are available to assist in this process.

Choosing the Right Instrument
Pyranometers are classified into three classes according to ISO 9060. The SR11-TR is a first-class pyranometer, offering high accuracy at an attractive price. Maintenance is crucial for maintaining accuracy.

Options and Alternatives
- Longer cable options
- Internal temperature sensor
- Adapted transmitted range
- Alternative instruments: SR11 with linear millivolt output, SR12 for solar energy test applications, SR20 for higher accuracy measurements.

Standards
The SR11-TR complies with ISO 9060, WMO-No. 8, ISO 9847, ASTM E2848, and IEC 61724 standards.

SR11-TR PYRANOMETER-1

Thermal Sensors First class pyranometer with 4-20 mA transmitter SR11-TR is a high accuracy solar radiation sensor. SR11-TR pyranometer complies with the first class specifications of the ISO 9060 standard and the WMO Guide. It is the preferred instrument for outdoor PV system performance monitoring, according to the ASTM E2848 standard. SR11-TR houses a 4-20 mA transmitter for easy read-out by dataloggers commonly used in the industry. Introduction SR11-TR is a solar radiation sensor that is applied in general high accuracy observations. It measures the solar radiation received by a plane surface from a 180o field of view angle. This quantity, expressed in W/m2, is called “hemispherical” solar radiation. SR11-TR pyranometer can be employed outdoors under the sun, as well as indoors with lampbased solar simulators. Its orientation depends on the application and may be horizontal, tilted (for plane of array radiation) or inverted (reflected radiation). Figure 1 SR11-TR first class pyranometer with 4-20 mA transmitter 3 Using SR11-TR is easy. The pyranometer can be connected directly to commonly used data logging systems. The irradiance in W/m2 is calculated by using the transmitter’s output. In SR11-TR’s standard configuration, the 4 to 20 mA output corresponds to a transmitted range of 0 to 1600 W/m2. This range can be adjusted at the factory upon request. PV system performance monitoring The ASTM E2848 “Standard Test Method for Reporting Photovoltaic Non-Concentrator System Performance” (issued end 2011) confirms that a pyranometer is the preferred instrument for PV system performance monitoring. SR11-TR pyranometer complies with the requirements of this standard.
