ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid

ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid, an ultra-fine screening solution designed for wastewater treatment. It addresses issues such as the removal of fibers and hair, enhancing the operational stability of MBR plants, and reducing COD/BOD in river and sea outfall applications.

The Situation
MBR plants, particularly those with hollow fiber membranes, are prone to clogging due to fibers and hairs. Conventional screens with 3 to 10 mm spacing are inadequate, necessitating finer screens for reliable operation. In regions where raw wastewater is discharged into rivers or seas, ultra-fine screening is crucial for protecting water bodies, especially when combined with chemical precipitation and flocculation.

Our Solution
The ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid features a drum-shaped screen basket with low flow resistance, suitable for municipal and industrial wastewater flows up to 3500 m3/h. It can be equipped with square mesh sizes as small as 0.1 mm or perforated plates as small as 1.0 mm. The screenings, due to their sludgy consistency, are pumped to the next treatment step and can be used as bulking material in sludge treatment.

The Function
Wastewater enters the screen basket, where solids are retained on the surface. A cleaning cycle starts at a defined water level difference, washing off retained solids with a spray nozzle bar. High-pressure washing prevents fouling and removes grease and oil.

Applications
The screen is used for separating fine solids in municipal and industrial applications. It protects MBR plants by removing fibers and hairs, reduces COD and BOD in outfall applications, and removes algae from eutrophicated waters.

Benefits
The ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid offers excellent separation efficiency, protects downstream MBR plants, and reduces COD/BOD in outfall applications. It allows for the treatment of fine screenings with coarse screenings, achieving high dewatering results. The unit is corrosion-resistant, made of stainless steel, and requires low maintenance.

Technical Data
The machine is made of stainless steel, with mesh sizes from 0.1 to 1.0 mm and perforations from 1.0 to 2.0 mm. It has a throughput capacity of up to 5000 m3/h and can be installed in channels or tanks.

ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid-2

MBR plants, especially those with hollow fibre membranes, are highly susceptible to hairs and fibres as these lead to tressing and clogging of the membranes. The efficiency of conventional screens with 3 to 10 mm bar spacing or perforation is insufficient for such membrane plants. Finer screens are necessary to ensure the reliable operation of membrane plants without excessive maintenance requirements. In many regions raw wastewater is only passed through a simple mechanical screen prior to being discharged to a river or the sea. If the self-cleaning capacity of the receiving water body is insufficient,...

WASTE WATER Solutions Schematic diagram of the ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid The ROTAMAT® Membrane Screen RoMem liquid is used for the separation of very fine solids within municipal and industrial applications. The screen can be installed either directly in the channel or in a separate tank. Separation of hair and bres to protect MBR plants The selection of the mesh size depends on the applied membrane system. Separation of all hairs and fibres is required prior to hollow fibre membrane plants as fibres may lead to tressing or blocking of the membrane. The screen types are normally used...
