RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen

RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen, a micro screen solution for wastewater treatment, designed to efficiently remove fine suspended solids. It highlights the challenges faced by secondary clarifiers and presents the RoDisc® as a reliable solution.

Challenges in Wastewater Treatment
Secondary clarifiers often struggle with high hydraulic loads, insufficient tank depth, and poor sludge settling, leading to increased COD, BOD, and phosphorus levels. These issues are exacerbated during storm conditions, causing environmental concerns like eutrophication.

Solution Overview
The RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen consists of up to 35 vertical discs on a horizontal shaft, with 60% submerged in filtrate. Each disc is made of 12 plastic segments with filter plates covered by mesh. The system is modular, allowing customization for specific site needs.

Functionality
The system operates on a drum filter principle, where wastewater flows through the discs, retaining solids on the inner surfaces. As pressure builds, the discs rotate, and spray nozzles clean the mesh using filtrate, not fresh water. This continuous process ensures efficient solid separation.

Applications
The RoDisc® is used in municipal and industrial settings, particularly where secondary clarifiers are inadequate. It is effective for pre-discharge screening and protecting downstream systems like UV disinfection. It is also applicable in industries like paper, pulp, and plastics.

User Benefits
The system offers high throughput on a small footprint, operates on gravity with low headloss, and significantly reduces solids, COD, BOD, and phosphorus. It meets effluent standards, reduces discharge charges, and requires no external wash water.

Technical Data
The RoDisc® features a 2230 mm disc diameter, 2000 m³/h capacity, and mesh sizes from 10 to 100 µm. It can treat about 8.5 m³ of wastewater per second with multiple units.

Conclusion
The RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen is a versatile and efficient solution for improving wastewater treatment, offering significant environmental and operational benefits.

RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen-2

High hydraulic loads, insufficient tank depth and poor settling behaviour of the activated sludge are the most common causes for the poor performance of secondary clarifiers. Frequently, secondary clarifiers are even unable to reliably ensure the solids retention required. Under storm conditions for example, the amount of filterable solids can be up to three to four times the volume experienced under dry weather conditions. Overflow of flocks increases COD, BOD and phosphorus loads in the effluent and receiving watercourse with the result of higher wastewater fees. Our RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen...

WASTE WATER Solutions as the blinding process progresses. When the predefined maximum pressure differential has been reached, the solids are removed automatically from the filter surfaces. The solids are removed by the slow rotation of the filter discs combined with spray nozzle bars which wash the filtrate through the mesh from inside to outside without the need to use fresh water. The spray water and the solids contained are collected in a trough and discharged axially from the machine. The filtration process runs on continuously whilst the filter discs are being cleaned.
