HUBER Vacuum Rotation Membrane VRM® Bioreactor

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the HUBER Vacuum Rotation Membrane (VRM®) Bioreactor, a solution for efficient wastewater treatment that achieves high water quality standards. Membrane technology in wastewater treatment can produce effluent quality comparable to service water, suitable for various uses such as irrigation and cooling, thus conserving drinking water resources and energy.

The Solution
The HUBER VRM® process utilizes ultrafiltration membranes submerged in activated sludge. The system features membrane modules arranged around air tubes, with a filter drive rotating the membrane plates through a scouring air jet. This design effectively removes sludge and reduces fouling, minimizing energy costs and chemical cleaning frequency while maintaining high effluent quality.

Advantages of HUBER VRM® Systems
  • Low operation and energy costs
  • High-efficiency scouring without permeate backwashing
  • Durable PES membrane material with over 10 years of proven use
  • Minimal wastewater pre-treatment requirements
  • High-quality stainless steel structural elements

Technical Data
The VRM® systems come in two models: VRM® 20 and VRM® 30. The VRM® 20 has a diameter of up to 2.3 m, a length of approximately 4 m, and a membrane surface of up to 900 m² per unit, with continuous flow rates up to 16 m³/h and maximum flow rates up to 30 m³/h. The VRM® 30 has a diameter of approximately 3.2 m, a length of up to 6.5 m, and a membrane surface of up to 3840 m² per unit, with continuous flow rates up to 70 m³/h and maximum flow rates up to 130 m³/h.

Applications
The HUBER VRM® systems are suitable for various applications, including municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, hotels, universities, and container plants. They are applicable in industries such as textiles, meat processing, beverages, and automobiles.

HUBER Vacuum Rotation Membrane VRM® Bioreactor-2

Membrane technology has set the highest standards in the field of wastewater treatment for years already. The effluent quality achieved by MBR systems is as high as service water quality and can frequently even be used instead of precious drinking water, such as for irrigation, as cooling water or toilet flush water, etc. Reuse of treated wastewater can replace expensive drinking water treatment plants and effectively protects the environment. Membrane systems provide a sustainable solution to save our energy resources as they require only one tenth of the electric energy consumed by energyintensive...
